This sequel looks at the life and work of Mahadai Das [1954-2003] after the publication of her first collection of poetry. Once again, the recording draws on writing by Denise de Caires Narain Gurnah and Jeremy Poynting to analyse Mahadai’s poems, her politics, her sense of identity and her poetic technique. The recording includes the recital of several of Mahadai’s poems by Stanley Greaves.

OLYMPICS 2021 – Canada’s Andre De Grasse wins GOLD in the 200m

This is the first time a Canadian has won the event since 1928

Andre De Grasse has claimed the gold medal in the 200m at the Tokyo Olympics, running in a blazingly fast 19.62 in the men’s final on Wednesday August 3, 2021.

This is De Grasse’s fifth Olympics medal, making him one of Canada’s most decorated athletes. He previously won bronze in the 100m at Tokyo and three medals at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro including a silver in the 200m.

Rihanna is now officially a billionaire and the wealthiest female musician in the world, according to Forbes.

The pop star is worth $1.7 billion (£1.2 billion), with an estimated $1.4 billion coming from the value of her Fenty Beauty cosmetics company.

The rest of her fortune mostly comes from lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, worth an estimated $270 million, and her earnings from music and acting.
