GUYANA: Unvaccinated staff members of Linden and other Region 10 hospitals locked out

August 11, 2021 – Kaieteur News – Nurses, doctors, ancillary, administrative staff and other employees of the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), were on Tuesday morning locked out of the compound for failing to produce a COVID-19 Vaccination Card. Similarly, this occurred at the Upper Demerara Hospital, the Kwakwani Hospital and health centres across the Region.

Staff members of the Charles Rosa School of Nursing who did not take their COVID-19 vaccine, were also sent home. This is in keeping with the Ministry of Health’s country wide enforcement of the ‘no vaccine, no entry’ policy.

NEW YORK: “The Rebirth of New York Carnival 2021.” announced by (WIADCA)

Stating that New York City is experiencing a “rebirth like no other,” after a year of COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, the Brooklyn-based West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) on Tuesday announced the launch of “The Rebirth of New York Carnival 2021.”

The organization, the host of arguably the largest carnival parade in North America, said in a statement that it did not let the city-wide lockdown in 2020 and early 2021 stop it from celebrating Caribbean culture.        Continue reading

COVID-19: Canada getting vaccine passport for international travel

Canada is getting a vaccine passport for international travel, Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino announced on Wednesday.

“We are working actively with the provinces and territories on a secure, pan-Canadian proof of vaccination for international travel,” he said.

The vaccine certificate will be common across all provinces, and will include the holder’s COVID-19 vaccination history, the date they got it, the type of jab they received and the location where they received their shot. It will be available to all citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents living in Canada who are fully vaccinated.        Continue reading
