Reuters allege that local investors are living off the proceeds of suspected drugs money and smuggling money, and they are intimately involved in this project with ExxonMobil:
If as claimed Guyana has little control/knowledge of the oil extraction, then this huge engineering endeavor, makes oil extraction looks like child’s play. A quick overview as shown by the video, makes one thing very clear, the construction and implementation for a long time, will be foreign controlled. Before you open your stall to sell, you should know you have customers wanting to buy.
Wally, Guyanese are indeed funding the NRG shorebase that will eventually be owned by certain politically connected elites who already dominate the local economy.
A few of the investors are also under the radar of several US intelligence agencies for transnational crimes.
I was thinking more of the technical staff/requirements Guyanese should have received foreign training many years ago to be properly prepared, as with the oil drilling it is extremely fast paced and dangerous, years of experience is required/demanded.On the other hand Guyanese are pretty smart and quick learners.Still some time left…
There is a two-tier compensation system in Guyana where the foreigners, expats, get paid in US dollars, and the Guyanese workers get paid in low Guyana wages and GYD.
Guyanese workers also have to eat separately from the foreign expat workers and they have to wait last for the meals at the offshore vessels and mining camps.

Guyanese workers will get paid peanuts while the rich will collect millions if not billions of US dollars in rental income.
I think capable and experienced, is usually well rewarded, good jobs can help if you can get it..
