Separately, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said Russia was showing signs of willingness to engage in substantive negotiations about ending a conflict in which thousands have died. More than 2.5 million people have fled.

Although the US imports relatively little Russian oil which it has now banned, like the rest of the West it is still affected by substantial increases in the price of petrol at the pump. As of last week the price of crude had reached $130 a barrel in the US, the highest it has been since 2008. People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Leader, Aubrey Norton on Wednesday credited his now three-month long leadership with establishing party groups across Guyana and gearing up to put behind the 2020 general election campaign that he deemed the “poorest run” .

“I don’t want to get into the details of what the People’s National Congress Reform has become under the previous leadership. All I can say to you is that I hope to restore the party to the glorious days of Forbes Burnham,” in reference to the PNCR’s Founder Leader.    Continue reading
