Today, Guyanese Online has celebrated its11th Anniversary.
We have a large database of Guyanese worldwide. Most of our readers are in the USA, Canada, and the UK.
The website has carried articles and videos on Guyana, as well as articles on a wide range of subjects that may be of interest to our readers, many of them non-Guyanese We hope that you like our selections. To date we have had over 7.3 millions views on the website.
The last year has been a tumultuous one. On March 28 I suspended all entries for two months. The main reason was that the country I was residing in was going on lockdown and my internet connectivity was unreliable. I also realized that the COVID-19 pandemic was more serious than first thought and that it would adversely affect almost everyone. This has turned out to be the case as the end-game, medically as well as economically, is still unclear.
We hope to continue for another year. However, work is needed in building the email databases as well as improving the website. For the last 11 years, I have been the only person managing this website on a daily basis but now I will need to hire personnel to get it done. Please let me know if you would like to make a small donation, for this to be accomplished. Send checks/cheques or money orders, in my name, to my Toronto mailing address:

Thank you for your interest in Guyanese Online.

I live abroad and find that Guyanese Online provides an invaluable service in keeping me up to speed the latest news, arts and other goings-on in the country.
Congratulations on your first eleven years and long may you continue.
Agreed, Arthur:
This site has been a revelation.
Guyanese Online has taught me a lot about the land of my birth over the years. I was only 22 and a half years old when I left more than 45 years ago. Obviously, I did not spend much of my adult life there to get to know the country as well as others.
My first and only job was at the New Amsterdam Magistrates Court – from January 1974 until May 1975 – before I was transferred to the Supreme Court in Georgetown where I worked for another two months before resigning to seek a better life far afield.
What fascinates me most are the lucid memories of my fellow countrymen and countrywomen who can recite intriguing, personal stories with great details and incredible clarity: stories of their childhood neighborhood and who lived next door or down the street, tales of trips into the forest, encounters with wildlife and venomous snakes, the Amerindian way of life, and so on.
Guyanese have great stories to tell and thanks to Cyril we can all tell our own as we simultaneously learn from our compatriots.
May the site remain vibrant for many more years.
Cheers, Ron.
Congratulations Cyril. Keep up the good work.
Way to go! Always interesting.
Congrats on your anniversary. What a immense contribution to the Guyanese and the world at large.
Congratulations, Cyril. 11 years, and still maintaining a good standard!
Stay safe and well.
Congrats, Congrats Cy!!! Keep it going…11 and Counting….
Cheers, Michelle

Congratulations, Cyril, and best wishes in the years ahead.
Let’s hope for another many more fascinating years of Guyanese Online.

Thank you Ron.

I would like to see them, as well as others, commenting as well.
