GUYANA: Former PPP Minister – Geoffrey Da Silva – demands urgent renegotiation of ‘wicked’ Exxon contract

Dec 22, 2021 – Kaieteur News – Successfully achieving good governance policies to avoid the resource curse -Dutch Disease—is easier said than done and some symptoms of ‘Dutch Disease’ have begun to appear locally.

This is according to former Minister in the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) administration, Geoffrey Da Silva, who yesterday in a public missive lamented that “many oil-producing countries had similar good intentions like those of the PPP/C government, but they became more underdeveloped and poor because their governments early on, ignored, downplayed or denied the creeping symptoms of ‘Dutch Disease—symptoms of which are already being experienced in Guyana.          Continue reading →

There are those of us who will never dance for our supper at the cost of our dignity.

We will not allow ourselves to be controlled like marionettes by puppeteers who wish to destroy us. We know who we are and are proud of our heritage. We know that the bones and biscuits handed out by those who keep the meat and wheat to make bread for themselves is not worth us selling our souls.

The psychological warfare to dehumanize us and the attempts to erase our history and destroy our present and future does not divert our path of freedom of thought, freedom of speech and the freedom to be honest.            Continue reading →

As 2022 nears, the West is trying to figure out Russian President Vladimir Putin’s next move on a complex geopolitical chessboard — and preparing an “aggressive package” of sanctions, should he decide to make another land grab in Ukraine. 

Tensions are now at their highest since 2014, when Russia illegally annexed Crimea and dispatched “little green men” into Ukraine’s Donbas region. An all-out land invasion of Ukraine is now a real possibility.

But let’s face it. Putin could care less about the West’s threats, sitting as he does in the enviable position of being able to call the shots.        Continue reading →
