UK Elections: Nicola Sturgeon: Scotland ‘cannot be imprisoned’ in UK

Nicola Sturgeon told the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show that Scotland ‘cannot be imprisoned’ in UK

Scotland “cannot be imprisoned in the union against its will” by the UK government, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

The Scottish first minister says the SNP’s success in the general election gives her a mandate to hold a new referendum on independence.

However, UK ministers are opposed to such a move with Michael Gove saying the vote in 2014 should be “respected”.

My Poetry Corner December 2019 features the poem “Confession” by Tunisian American poet and educator Leila Chatti, published in the anthology of poetry Halal If You Hear Me: BreakBeat Poets Vol. 3, edited by Fatimah Asghar and Safia Elhillo.

Born in 1990 in Oakland, California, Leila Chatti is one of four children of a Tunisian father and American mother. Her parents met when her father came to the United States to study for his PhD. Her father, the only one of seven children to leave Tunisia, maintained a close relationship with relatives by having his American-born family spend the summers with them.

2019 MISSION REPORT

      WELCOME TO CANADA-GUYANA OUTREACH MISSION (CANGO)

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting confidential, compassionate and supportive medical services in Guyana. Our focus now is in the Pomeroon and Moruka Rivers serving the indigenous people of Guyana.

We are teams of dedicated health care professionals from Canada, the United States and Guyana who are passionate about providing health care to the various villages in these rivers of Guyana, in difficult areas due to the lack of roads and inexpensive transportation.

United States financing humanitarian aid to Venezuelan refugees in Guyana

Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica is the 69th Miss World

(Jamaica Observer) Toni-Ann Singh, Miss Jamaica World is Miss World 2019.

Singh, who had secured her place in the top 40 by winning the talent competition at the “Beauty with a Purpose” Gala Dinner in London, advanced to the final round of the competition along with Miss Nigeria, Miss Brazil, Miss India and Miss France.
She now becomes the fourth Jamaican to win the title — Carole Joan Crawford in 1963, Cindy Breakspeare in 1976 and Lisa Hanna in 1993.              Continue reading
