GUYANA: Alliance For Change (AFC) re-elects Ramjattan as Leader

Jun 12, 2022 – Kaieteur News – The third largest political force in Guyana – the Alliance For Change (AFC) – has re-elected its incumbent Leader, Khemraj Ramjattan.

Ramjattan was elected on Saturday at the party’s seventh National Conference, which also named Sherod Duncan as the new General Secretary (GS). Duncan will be replacing former Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson who received no nominations for the other executive positions that were open.

Notably, former Minister of Telecommunications Catherine Hughes has been elected to serve as the Party’s Chair, replacing Raphael Trotman. She defeated Ramjattan, Sherod Duncan and Shadow Finance Minister, Juretha Fernandes.          Continue reading

Civil servants have attempted to “sanitise” a Home Office teaching module on race, empire and colonialism, according to those involved in devising a mandatory course on British history for the department’s 36,000 employees.

Disagreements have led to a year-long delay in the rollout of the project, which was due to be launched in June 2021. Home Office civil servants are understood to be nervous that some of the proposed material addressing issues of race, colonialism and empire is “too controversial” and have urged academics to tone down some of the content.                    Continue reading

This is a fascinating trip and definitely worth your time! In this time of uncertainty regarding climate change, historic wildfires, relentless hurricanes, and devastating floods, we need to be more aware of our dangerous situation caused by weather.

By that, I mean, we have squandered our planet’s resources and hastened its demise to an uncertain future. It may be well beyond our imagination to even comprehend the challenges the future generations will face. But that is a discussion for another time.

You do not have to believe in climate change to understand the recent weather-related phenomena that have gripped our small part of the planet.
