Guyana Elections: GECOM Chair stands by instruction to Lowenfield, gives him up to 11 am July 11. 2020

GECOM Chair Claudette Singh today reiterated her instruction to the Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield to present the results of the recount of the March 2nd general elections to her and he has up to 11 tomorrow to do so.

By way of a letter yesterday, Singh asked Lowenfield to submit a report by 2pm today of the “valid votes counted in the National Recount as per the Certificates of Recount.”

However, in a written response today, Lowenfield informed Singh that prior to the preparation and submission of the report, “some clarifications are imperative… to safeguard against any action deemed unilateral.”    Continue reading

Guyana Elections: GECOM: Lowenfield fails to submit elections report, says he needs “clarity”

Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield has failed to submit his final elections report as instructed by GECOM Chairperson Justice Claudette Singh.

Lowenfield was directed to submit the report, using the recount figures, by 14:00hrs today.

However, INews understands that the CEO is claiming that he needs “clarity”.  ( SEE his letter below )

In her letter to Lowenfield, dated July 9, the GECOM Chair’s instructions were very clear.

She stated: “Section 18 of the Election Laws Act No 15 of 2000 stipulates that you are subject to the direction and control of the Commission.”  Continue reading

An elevated precast concrete girder bridge equipped with two traffic lanes and a footpath has been proposed to replace the existing Wismar, Linden Bridge which has been deteriorating over the years.

The design of the bridge was unveiled on Tuesday night by Italy-based engineering firm – Politecnica Ingegneria ed Architettura Società Cooperativa – which was contracted by the Ministry of Public Infrastructure to conduct a feasibility study and preparation of detailed designs for the construction.          Continue reading

The Biden campaign held an online event on Wednesday, July 8 pitched as the former Vice President’s “vision for Venezuela and Venezuelans in the U.S.” Spoiler alert: his vision for Venezuela barely differs from President Trump. This event, which didn’t merit an appearance from Biden himself, was aimed at getting Venezuelan-Americans to volunteer for “Uncle Joe”, as Representative Darren Soto (D-Fl) called him.            Continue reading

GECOM Chairman instructs CEO Lowenfield to submit new report by 2.00 PM Friday July 10, 2020

The Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), Retired Justice Claudette Singh on Thursday instructed Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield to present a report based on the results from the national vote recount including the certified district results.

Quoting the Election Laws Act, that “you are subject to the direction and control of the Elections Commission,”  she asked him to prepare and submit his report on the March 2, 2020 general and regional elections by 2 PM, 10th July, 2020 “using the valid votes counted in the National Recount as per certificates of recount generated therefrom.”      Continue reading
