Marijuana: Weed gets a break in St. Vincent, Jamaica and Antigua

Three Caribbean Community countries which have been pioneering the region’s new approach to marijuana have in the past week taken significant steps to either reform legislation or to recognize medical products from the cannabis sativa sector as the three indirectly mount pressure on neighbors to follow their paths.

While Americans were celebrating Thanksgiving Day, lawmakers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines were engaged in a final round of parliamentary debates paving the way for the establishment of a medical marijuana industry on the archipelago with the Grenadines group of smaller islands.     Continue reading

Most of those who have had a chance to witness Chinese internationalist mega-projects, clearly understand that the West is near to collapsing; it will never be able to compete with tremendous enthusiasm and progressive spirit of the most populous country on earth, which on top of it, is built on socialist principles (with Chinese characteristics).

Writing this essay in rural Laos, I just saw, literally an entire army of Chinese engineers and workers in action, building huge bridges and tunnels, connecting one of the poorest countries in Asia, to both China and Southeast Asia, erecting hospitals and schools, small factories for the rural population, airports and hydro-electric powerplants or in brief: putting the great majority of Laotian people out of poverty by providing them with both livelihood and infrastructure.          Continue reading

Inventor of the Web Prepares to Launch Web 3.0,….. Predicts Privacy Revolution

The inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee (shown), believes that “the web has evolved into an engine of inequity and division; swayed by powerful forces who use it for their own agendas.” To correct that and “restore the power and agency of individuals on the web,” Berners-Lee is preparing to re-invent the web.

Due to the growing prevalence of the twin evils of data-mining and data-manipulation, the web — created to be a free and open platform — has instead  become a place where users find themselves robbed of both their privacy and easy access to reliable information on which they could base sound decisions. Take as just one example, the Cambridge Analytica breach of Facebook last year. By the time the dust settled and the smoke cleared, at least 50 million (and possibly as many as 87 million) users had their data harvested and used to manipulate their (and their friends’) votes in the 2016 presidential election.
