New Guyana Airways aiming for takeoff within 90 days
– after winning legal battle for name

Local airline start-up Guyana Airways Corporation Inc yesterday announced that it is aiming to launch its inaugural flight within the next 90 days.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Colin Abrams made the announcement during a press briefing yesterday, just one day after the company won the legal right to use the name Guyana Airways Corporation.
The High Court on Thursday cleared the way for the airline to begin operations as it ordered the re-registration of its name. Continue reading

BILL COTTON GETS A GONG!
At a glittering 2018 Guyana High Commission (UK) Awards ceremony at the Senate House in London recently, writer John Mair-better known in Guyana as ’Bill Cotton/Reform’– was rewarded for his ‘service to the community’. Mair pronounced himself ‘very chuffed’ to receive it. Many of his Guyanese family were there to support him.
In the last three years, Mair has put on fifteen events at the London High Commission on subjects ranging from Sir Wilson Harris to the Windrush Scandal and the art of Aubrey Williams. Continue reading

We keep hearing from time to time, that “Bad News Sells”, but the kind of responses I have been receiving over the years with the many “Feel Good Stories” which I’ve been producing, it seems somehow to negate that often-times statement about the bad news being good for business.
Anyway, here’s another “feel good story” from me; it’s about the 175th. Anniversary of the Smith Memorial Congregational Church, located on Brickdam in Georgetown. Today, November 25, 2018, there is a special service at that iconic wooden church, at which Pastor Loris Heywood of the Bethel Mission Chapel on Camp Street, Georgetown, is scheduled to deliver the special anniversary sermon.
