Is Age Just an Illusion?

A very popular quotation-“Age is just a number”. Everyone has heard about it but they don’t realise the true meaning of it. Aging is based on empirical system of concept of time. Time was in the past, present and even in future. It was there even before humans. Early man didn’t know aging. But he knew time by the tradition of Sun and Moon. Then came the concept of human lifespan. 

This all came to my mind when I realised it’s too late to pursue the college of my dreams. Where I wanted to go since childhood. Criticism took over me and I didn’t apply. Only because it wasn’t linked with academics? It’s ok and I don’t regret it. I don’t need a degree to be a designer. And then, this idea struck me. Age can’t define me. I’ll never be too old or yoo young. It’s just an illusion…

IN 1904 the Herero people of modern-day Namibia rose up against German colonists, who had seized and settled much of their land. The response of the German army, imbued with racist ideology, was to annihilate them. “Within the German borders every Herero, with or without a gun, with or without cattle, will be shot,” ordered General Lothar von Trotha, its commander. Some Herero died at the hands of Trotha’s soldiers; many more perished after being pushed into the desert or herded into concentration camps.    Continue reading →

Nurse Marva Hawker

 “People ain’t going nowhere; nobody ain’t want we now,” said veteran Nurse, Marva Hawker, as she addressed the wanting quality of some nurses that the public health system has produced over the years.

Hawker was recruited last year by the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation as a Nursing Mentor, in the deliberate quest to bring an end to the evident deficiency within the profession.

This has seen her working along with the Ward Manager, Supervisors and the nurses to guide them and ensure that they employ necessary remedial measures.
