USA Tax evaders can soon be caught in Guyana

Guyana has formally agreed to share bank account information about Americans and American companies in Guyana to help the United States (US) catch tax evaders in foreign jurisdictions, the Government Information Agency (GINA) ,
The agency noted that if Guyana did not conclude an Inter Governmental Agreement (IGA) with the US’ Internal Revenue Service (IRS), banks and other financial institutions operating here could have been subjected to a 30 percent withholding tax on certain payments, including US source interest and dividends, and gross proceeds from sales of US securities.
Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh said Guyana said the IGA, concluded in substance, is in accordance with the U.S. Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). Continue reading →
US anti-narcotics expert tipped to be next Ambassador to Guyana

A United States (US) diplomat, with considerable experience in fighting narco-trafficking in Latin America, is tipped to be his country’s next Ambassador to Guyana.
Perry L. Holloway who most recently served as Political-Military Counselor at the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan from 2013 to 2014, has been nominated to the US Senate for approval.
The White House quoted US President, Barack Obama as saying “I am proud that such experienced and committed individuals have agreed to serve the American people in these important roles. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.” Continue reading →

1. WHY:
Why do men’s clothes have buttons on the right while women’s clothes
have buttons on the left?
BECAUSE:
When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily
by the rich. Since most people are right-handed, it is easier to push
buttons on the right through holes on the left. Because wealthy women
were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the maid’s right!
And that’s where women’s buttons have remained since.
2. WHY:
Why do ships and aircraft use ‘mayday’ as their call for help?
BECAUSE:
This comes from the French word m’aidez – meaning ‘help me’ – and is
