Ministry re-established, new ministry named in minor cabinet shuffle  

 The Ministry of the Presidency Thursday announced the re-establishment of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the establishment of a new one called the Ministry of Telecommunications.

Making the official announcement that Minister of Tourism, Catherine Hughes will now be named Minister for Public Telecommunications, while maintaining Ministerial responsibility for Tourism, President Granger said, “The reason is that after seven months, we detected a gap that there is no single spokesperson in the National Assembly, a Ministerial spokesperson, dealing with the digital economy [and] dealing with information technology. So we decided that it was necessary to have a Minister responsible for information and communication technology.”    Continue reading

Gold Board records 451,490 ounces -declarations exceed 2015 target

Despite  a significant drop in gold prices on the world market, and challenges in the mining sector over the past year, the Guyana Gold Board (GGB) has recorded 451,490 ounces of declared gold, surpassing this year’s target of 380,000 ounces, government announced Thursday.

With the declarations, the GCB has recorded export earnings of approximately US$500 million, making the mineral, once again, the largest earner of foreign currency for Guyana.   Continue reading

We would like to thank all of the contributors of articles to Guyanese Online, as well as the viewers and commentators of this blog for helping us attain a record of 1,012,455 views for the year 2015.

According to the WordPress.com statistics ….There were 760 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 264 MB. That’s about 2 pictures per day. The busiest day of the year was May 12th with 31,241 views. The most popular post that day was Guyana Elections Results 2015 – Statements of Poll – Stabroek News.

Where did our viewers come from? They came from some 219 countries in all!
