You are warmly invited to join us for the first in an occasional series of readings and recitals called Chapter & Verse. We hope to introduce you to Guyanese writing and poetry that you may not know or to reacquaint you with favourite authors and poets. This month we feature the writing of Jan Carew. Readings will include the famous scene of the porknockers’ party from Black Midas and a portrait of Carew’s grandfather, the schoolmaster of Agricola, from his autobiography, Potaro Dreams. Featured poets include Ian Mc Donald, Mahadai Das and Edgar Mittelholzer.
