Central High Alumni Association Toronto Chapter- CHAAG: New Year 2022 Message + Video

Fellow Alumni:
A Happy New Year from the CHAAG Executive and again, wishes for a safe and healthy year to you and your families.
Here we are at the start of another year and a look back at 2021, reveals that it was a year of uncertainty caused by the still present pandemic and filled with lows as we marked the passing of the following Central High Alumni:
  • Cheryl F. (Choo-Hum) Yong
  • Clayton Glasgow
  • Bert Wilkinson
  • Barbara Price
  • Stephen Walks
  • Lennox Robinson
  • Gloria Mahazarally
  • Leslie “Tulu”Lewis
  • Ray Sattaur
Despite the many challenges during the year, your Executive has continued to meet and we are happy to report that the Bursary Committee once again approved three $1,000.00 bursaries for the following grandchildren of Association members: James Harricharran, enrolled at Ryerson University, Ted Rogers School of Business Management; his sister Nikola Harricharran who is enrolled at Queens University in BA History program and Paiton Choy who is planning to pursue a career in nursing.
I know that many have made enquiries about our Alma Mater and sadly, there has been no communications with the new entity named, “The New Central High School”. Your Executive will be meeting to make a determination with regards to what relationship if any this Association will have with the new High School and the future of our Alumni Association, given that our primary raison d’être was providing assistance and organising fund-raising activities for the benefit of the school (Central High School). A special General Meeting of the membership will be convened before any decision is made and notification of this year’s Annual General Meeting will be sent out shortly.
The Alumni website at www.chaagtoronto.com remains your most up-to-date source of information and we invite you to visit it often. In the meantime, a reminder that to be able to participate in the voting at the upcoming AGM you will need to be a paid-up member and the annual dues still remains at $10.00. For those in Canada, payment can be made by e-transfer to chaagtoronto@yahoo.ca  As an alternative, dues can be paid by cheque to:
Central High Alumni Association

815 Jacqueline Ave
Pickering  ON  L1V 3B2
In closing, we urge you all to stay safe, adhere to public health protocols and one day, we will all be able to once again meet in person.

Gone are the days but not the memories of Central High School. what a tragic loss to the ravages of time. I still remember and always will my first day in class at Central….I also remember my last day at Central as I transitioned to another horizon..cogito ergo sum…to all the Centralites out there…
