GCA Awards Ceremony – Requests for Nominations 2021

The Guyana Cultural Association of New York Inc. (GCA) presents its annual Awards Ceremony, virtually, on Sunday, November 21, 2021 newly titled:

GCA 2021 RECOGNITIONS: Awards and Prizes, under the theme Reconnecting Stronger and Better.

This Year, after a period of unprecedented pandemic uncertainties, we are reconnecting with our families and communities through stronger collaborative action better positioning GCA and the wider community to be prepared for new challenges, realities, possibilities and opportunities.

We will recognize individuals and organizations whose unselfish work have inspired many and gave solace while providing comfortable space and courage for others.       

Therefore, we request timely nominations that meet the selection criteria of accomplishments that demonstrate actions of the best of us in these testing times both in the Motherland and the Diaspora. Displays of humanity are important and descriptions of their impact and challenges are necessary for favorable evaluation.     

As GCA enters its 21st year, we are proud to have been leaders in recognizing cultural representatives who have motivated us to excellence. In that tradition, we will honor exemplars selected from global nominations, whose literary work, leadership and creativity demonstrate significant achievements in accomplishing the goals of our theme — Reconnecting Stronger and Better.

This year’s Recognitions comprise the following Awards and Prizes:

• Guyana Cultural Association Award
• Guyana Cultural Association Exemplary Award
• Guyana Cultural Association Lifetime Achievement Award
• The Godfrey Chin Prizes for Heritage Journalism
• The Derry Etkins Memorial Prize for Excellence in Music
(Composition, Performance, and Preservation)
• The Derry Etkins Memorial Prize for Service and Commitment to
Music Education in Guyana

Nominations for 2021 Recognitions are open until October 14th, 2021.
