GUYANA: Moves to strengthen economic relations between Guyana & USA

The Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and the Private Sector Commission (PSC) have pledged to leverage their combined resources to strengthen economic relations between the United States and Guyana.

This is made possible through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two entities earlier this month in Houston, Texas.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Guyana’s Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat, US Ambassador to Guyana Sarah-Ann Lynch, ExxonMobil executives Dr. John Ardill and Alistair Routledge, and CEO of Go-Invest Guyana Dr. Peter Ramsaroop.      Continue reading

Dec 09, 2021 – Kaieteur News – As the world today observes, International Anti-Corruption Day, the government of the United States of America, has called on governments—including Guyana—“to announce meaningful commitments and initiatives, and to engage with civil society and the private and philanthropic sectors, since they play a critical role in supporting democracy, fighting corruption, and protecting human rights.”

The sentiments were espoused in a statement by the US Ambassador to Guyana, Sarah-Ann Lynch, who noted that the occasion coincides with US President, Joe Biden, “hosting a virtual Summit for Democracy, at which (Guyana’s) President (Irfaan) Ali, has confirmed his attendance.”            Continue reading

A C-5 Galaxy aircraft landed at Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Timehri, Guyana on 8 June 2021 transporting Blackhawk helicopters, mission equipment and members of the 185th Aviation Battalion from the Florida National Guard for the upcoming Exercise Tradewinds 2021

Guyana prepares for release and deportation from USA of Roger Khan in July

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, April 18, 2019 (CMC) – The governments of Guyana and the United States are working together to prepared for the release and deportation of convicted Guyanese drug lord, Shaheed Roger Khan. 

Khan, who is scheduled to be released from a US prison in July, has been serving a 10-year jail sentence for narco-trafficking and conspiracy.
