“I urge each of you to dream big…your Government will support those dreams and help make them a reality.” These were the words of President, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, as Guyana marked its 55th Independence Anniversary with a dreamlike celebration last evening in the vicinity of the Umana Yana located at the intersection of Young and High Streets, Georgetown.

Fire late Tuesday afternoon , September 9th, destroyed the Umana Yana on High Street, Kingston, Georgetown.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately known. The fire consumed the thatched roof structure in less than 15 minutes. Continue reading
Speaking at a media even to launch Amerindian Heritage Month 2013, advisor to the Minister of Amerindian Affairs Yvonne Pearson said that the 2013 programme will be mixed with both cultural and educational activities.
The theme this year is “Honouring our Culture Advancing our Future”.
