Even as a city magistrate gave police more time to locate two other policemen accused of murdering Agricolan 17-year old Shaquille Grant, his mother is working with Guyanese police to set up a foundation in his name.
Shonette Adams is getting help from the police and the business community to provide blackboards and other necessities. Along with those, she will be joining hands with teachers and other educators to impart knowledge and skills to Agricolan youths.

Police in riot gear clashed yesterday (October 10), with youths armed with stones, bottles, sticks and cutlasses during a five-hour standoff, between the villages of Agricola and Eccles, that brought rush hour traffic on the East Bank of Demerara to a standstill, leaving thousands of commuters stranded on either side of the conflict zone.

There are several features of this police operation that underline emphatically the dire shortcomings of the force and the need for emergency action. By their own account, the police force detected a motor vehicle operating in a suspicious manner in `B’ Field, Sophia. The occupants of the vehicle were challenged but they managed to get away. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has advised the Guyana Police Force to institute murder charges against three of its ranks involved in a raid which resulted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Agricola resident, Shaquille Grant.
