GUYANA: Politics: AFC Leader rubbishes PNCR’s efforts to remove Harmon as Opposition Leader

Leader of the Alliance For Khemraj Ramjattan on Friday slammed efforts by the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) to replace Joseph Harmon with Aubrey Norton as Opposition Leader, saying that he does not care if sticking with the rule of law results in a schism between the PNCR and AFC.

“Whatever the law is and constitutional regime is, if that  creates a schism and I am living the rule of law and the rule of the constitution, well what you want me to do if the constitution leads to prescription and I am asking for adherence to the prescription and some people don’t like Ramjattan because of that and it creates a schism, well I don’t care if it creates a schism,” he told News-Talk Radio  Guyana 103.1 FM/ Demerara Waves Online News.          Continue reading

GUYANA: Harmon called out for “reckless” claims about ‘fake’ COVID-19 vaccines

Jun 18, 2021 – Kaieteur News – Opposition Leader, Joseph Harmon, was yesterday called out for his claims of possible fake COVID-19 vaccines after he sought to lambaste the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Government over their acquisition of doses of the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in Guyana. He had also urged for a hold to be put on vaccines despite being fully immunised himself.

During a live aired press briefing yesterday, Harmon called into question the use of the vaccine on the basis that it was not approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and called for halt in the use of Sputnik V in the public immunisation process. His claims have been called into question by citizens and President, Irfaan Ali, who called him out for his irresponsible and reckless claims.          Continue reading

GUYANA: Harmon calls for “full explanation” from Ali about Sputnik V “vaccine racket”

Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon on Tuesday called on President Irfaan Ali to explain a more than GYD$1 billion dollar purchase of Sputnik V coronavirus vaccines from a member of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ruling family who visited Guyana last year.

“A full explanation of the vaccine racket is demanded of President Irfaan Ali by the Guyanese people,” Mr. Harmon said in a statement.

Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony, in response to questions by opposition parliamentarians,  named Sheik Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum of the UAE as the supplier of the jabs.          Continue reading
