Spectacular children’s Mash parade attracts hundreds

Hundreds of young revelers filled the streets of Georgetown  yesterday as the annual Children’s Mashramani costume parade was showcased.

Favoured by bright sunshine, the procession took off from Independence Park (formerly the Parade Ground) to the National Park. Scores of school aged children decorated in multicolored costumes pranced along the streets, which were lined with hundreds of adults and children who  witnessed the parade.
The thrilling display of colours incorporated the theme of this year’s Republic Anniversary celebrations   ‘Cultural Folklore, Celebrating 44.’ Continue reading

Georgetown, GINA, May 26, 2012

President Donald Ramotar this evening stated that he is committed to working with all those who are interested in moving the country forward; noting that Guyanese would like to see all stakeholders working together, which was a dream at independence and today is a major national aspiration.
He said Guyana can achieve the great potential that is often spoken about with political will and trust, and noted that while the 2011 National elections have created new challenges to all the leaders, it is a time to show maturity and to put the interest of the country and people ahead of narrow self-interests.

The Diamond Secondary School’s “Golden Queen of Eldorado” which copped first place

Glittering, dazzling floats and dancing revelers decked out in a galore of colours created quite a stunning attraction this year at the annual Children’s Costume Parade.

The thousands of spectators who lined the streets of Georgetown and turned up at the National Park, on Saturday January 18, were treated to impressive performances by excited students who enjoyed gyrating to the loud music in their breathtakingly, beautiful costumes. [more]
