Jagdeo, David Patterson, Khemraj Ramjattan and the IAC – By Freddie Kissoon

Jagdeo, David Patterson, Khemraj Ramjattan and the IAC – By Freddie Kissoon

The brother of Minister David Patterson was arrested for narcotics in Grenada. Before that, there was a celebration in the New Amsterdam prison where prohibited items were in use. Bharrat Jagdeo took some nasty swipes at Minister Patterson. The Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) took some nasty swipes too at Khemraj Ramjattan, Minister of Security.

Jagdeo thinks Patterson should do the right thing insinuating that he should resign though Jagdeo stated that the Opposition Leader is not calling on Patterson to resign. The IAC is demanding Ramjattan’s resignation. Both Jagdeo and the IAC are creatures from another world that the Guyanese people need to read up on. Here are some notes about them.    Continue reading

US prosecutors rev up for coke trial against Guyanese cash-jet pilot

A Guyana-born New Jersey-based pilot who landed himself in deep trouble after authorities found more than half of a million in US dollars on board his private jet is set for trial in May on two cocaine-related charges.

Khamraj Lall

Khamraj Lall’s legal woes, which spanned three US jurisdictions and Guyana, is now entering its third year.
Last week, a New York court set the jury trial date as May 1st, 2017.
It will be recalled that in July 2015, Lall was arrested in New Jersey and was accused by prosecutors of conspiring to bring five kilos of cocaine aboard his plane from Guyana to the US, even while he was facing a court in Puerto Rico for cash smuggling charges.     Continue reading

US prosecutors have started the final process of seizing more than US$400,000 in cash from bank accounts and two planes belonging to Guyanese pilot, Khamraj Lall.

The US$442,743.59 was frozen in accounts at Wells Fargo bank, Citibank and Morgan Chase Bank after investigators zeroed in on Lall after he was caught by Puerto Rican authorities with US$600,000 in cash stashed in his plane back in November. The money from the plane was seized, also.

In essence, the prosecutors are asking that the properties in the custody of investigators be transferred to the state. Continue reading

Embattled Guyanese pilot, Khamraj Lall, who was spectacularly busted with over US$600,000 in undeclared cash on board his jet by Puerto Rico authorities in November, is buckling under pressure and seems all set to make a plea deal.

In applications filed Friday for the February 23 trial date to be postponed, Lall’s lawyer, Rafael Lang, disclosed that a plea bargain is being actively pursued but additional time of one month is needed.

The Defence is asking permission for the matter to be transferred from Puerto Rico to New Jersey for purposes of plea and sentencing.

It is unlikely that Lall will even be going to trial because of the plea bargain proceedings that will be pursued. Continue reading

The various agencies linked to local air travel are unhappy that Khamraj Lall, the Guyanese pilot found with over US$600,000 stashed in his jet, would have been involved in alleged unlawful actions. This is so, Minister of Public Works Robeson Benn told reporters yesterday, because Lall was the first to offer what he thought was a vital service within the aviation sector; that is a Guyanese national providing high-end executive flights, and on-demand medivac services.  Continue reading
