Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GGI) – production facility almost complete

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Thursday May 28, 2015 – Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GGI), a Canadian based company focused on the exploration and development of gold deposits in Guyana, says it’s on track to begin production mid-year.

The company expects to produce between 30,000 ounces to 50,000 ounces of gold this year and approximately 120,000 ounces to 140,000 ounces of gold in 2016.   Continue reading

As gold closed out a dismal 97,000 ounces short of its original 2014 target, local miners have stepped up calls for radical changes that will see real incentives to keep the industry alive for small and medium scale players.
Gold declarations ended the year at just over 387,000 ounces.

According to Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA), it now wants almost the same benefits as the big operators with the time now for key mining policy changes. This is to allocate more of the fiscal “benefits currently enjoyed by large scale licencees to small and medium scale producers as well.” Continue reading

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Monday December 8, 2014, Oslo Times – When U.S President Barack Obama signed the 2010 financial regulations bill into law, the primary focus of it was to clean up the bad business on Wall Street, while stretching Washington’s judicial reach to other countries engaged in bad business transactions that passes through U.S banks.

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (GINA) — Guyana has recorded the highest ever gold declaration of 458,105 ounces as at December 16, 2013 surpassing the previous highest level of 455, 918 ounces in 2001; which included the declarations of both Omai and small scale operators.

Suriname produces an average of 40 tons of gold a year, but until now it has had no large scale refining capacity.

Suriname, Monday March 18, 2013 – The Government of Suriname has embarked on a joint venture with the Kaloti Group of Dubai to establish the first gold refinery in the Caribbean.

The refinery that is being built near the village of Wit Santi, close to the country’s International Airport, is expected to start operating by next year and produce as much as US$2.77 billion worth of refined gold.

On March 16,  President Desi Bouterse joined Kaloti Chairman Munir Kaloti in expressing high expectations of the facility.  The US$20 million plant should make Suriname into a “centre of excellence for the region’s gold and precious metals industry,” a joint release said.   Continue reading
