Guyana SPEAKS: Bourda Bazaar – London UK – 8th December 2019 (11am-4pm)

Dear Friends,

The Guyana SPEAKS year comes to a close with our third Bourda Bazaar.  This event offers a unique opportunity to shop Guyanese-style, and nostalgically draws its inspiration from Bourda Market in Georgetown, Guyana.  Traditional Guyanese foods and drinks, hot and cold, will be on sale along with adult and children’s books (many heavily discounted), arts and crafts, creams and oils, jewellery and clothes and much, much, more.          Continue reading

Dear Fellow Guyanese and friends

Summer months are here, hope you and your family are enjoying the days filled with lots of fun and excitement; stories to tell – moments to share.

For me, the month of June, 2017 day 21, was where I attained the age of biblical entitlement.  It means that I have been blessed to celebrate my 75th birthday.  Many of my relatives and friends have gone on to be with the lord but I am here to help others as ordained upon me by the omnipotent.

Over the past few weeks, the Guyana Foundation has continued its work on various fronts to bring tangible relief to communities in need. Urgently-needed items were recently distributed to residents of Phillipai, Region 7, and Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, while the Foundation has also announced plans to launch its first Sunrise Center on the Essequibo Coast to improve the mental well-being of vulnerable residents.

On April 26, 2016, several hundred pieces of new clothing were handed-over to the remote community of Phillipai, Region 7, by one of the Foundation’s volunteers, Mr. Neil Bacchus. This donation was accepted by Village Councilor, Mr. Jack Edwin, on behalf of residents who turned up in their numbers at the Phillipai airstrip to witness the handing-over.   Continue reading

Transforming the Lives of People for a Better World.

Dear Friend,

Over the past month, the Guyana Foundation has made important strides in expanding the impact of its programs.

Our volunteer base continues to grow, while at the international level, we have seen more and more individuals stepping forward to be a part of our work.

One such individual is Vidya Seekwar-Jaisaree, who has graciously accepted an invitation to join our Board of Trustees for a two year term, commencing on October 1, 2014. Vidya is a Guyanese-born Canadian educator, and brings a distinguished track-record of excellence in Canada to her new role with the Foundation. We are delighted at her addition to our team, and hope that you would join us in warmly welcoming her.  Continue reading
