GCA- Guyana Cultural Association of New York delivered again – by Francis Quamina Farrier
The four annual events of The Guyana Cultural Association of New York, Inc. – the Awards Ceremony, the Kwe Kwe Nite, the Literary Hang and the Family Fun Day, were all up to expectations. Guyanese Cultural giants honoured in New York

– by Francis Quamina Farrier

It has been seventeen years since the Guyana Cultural Association of New York commenced its commendable task of honouring Guyanese, both at home and abroad, for their contributions in field of Culture. The Annual Award Ceremonies are held on the last Wednesday of August at the Brooklyn Borough Hall, and usually attended by elected officials and diplomats. Attending this year, were Guyana’s Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Guyana to the United Nations, Michael Ten-Pow, and the Guyana Consul General in New York, Barbara Atherly.      Continue reading

Dear Family & Friends:

Award from the Guyana Cultural Association of New York

Members of CanGO are very pleased and honored to be the recipient of an award from the Guyana Cultural Association of New York in recognition of our community service in Guyana.  We are very appreciative for the acknowledgement of our work with the Indigenous Peoples of Guyana.  A few members of CanGO will be traveling to New York at the end of August 2017, where I will accept the award on behalf of CanGO.

In early October, members of the CanGO team will again travel to Guyana to provide free health care to the Indigenous Peoples in Regions 1 (Santa Rosa, Waramuri, Karaburi, and Manawarin) and 2 (Charity, Kabakaburi, St. Monica, Karawab and Waracabra) of the country.  This will be a two-week mission.    Continue reading

5,000 years, the contemporary nation has had close and intimate relations with
the churn of the pushes and pulls of the human migration drama.    Continue reading
