Guyana Christian Charities requests help for Rev. John O’Conner teaching nurses in Guyana – tablet computers required
Guyana Christian Charities supports and encourages one of its members, Rev. John O’Connor, who has been teaching at the school of Nursing, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Georgetown since 2002.
He teaches for three months, September through November. For the last several years, he has introduced the McMaster Medical School “Problem Based Learning” method, in which there are no lectures and teachers are guides.
It is the students who set their own learning goals, which they then achieve in student-driven small groups. This methodology is facilitated by student access to the internet. Hence, Rev. John has sought donations so that every first year student can have a good tablet computer.
This year he is again seeking to raise money for these tablets. If you would like to help, you can make a donation to Guyana Christian Charities (Canada) Inc., marked Mercy/O’Connor or through Canada Helps.
John may be contacted at: revsx2@gmail.com.”
