Exxon-Mobil: First Oil: Liza Destiny arrives in Stabroek Block

The Liza Destiny, Guyana’s ‘First Oil’ production vessel has arrived in the Stabroek Block after traveling nearly 11 thousand nautical miles from the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore, ExxonMobil announced Thursday.

The floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel journeyed for 42 days, after a June commissioning ceremony at which First Lady, Sandra Granger renamed it “Godmother”.

After clearing customs, the vessel will be moored to the seabed (known as spread mooring) in preparation for production, storage and offloading of Guyana’s oil.          Continue reading

Guyana Goldfields workers call off strike at Aurora mine

Guyana Goldfields Inc. announced Friday that the work stoppage at its Aurora mine that began on July 2 has ended, paving the way for union and the Ministry of Labour representatives to meet with aggrieved workers.

“Employees are starting to return to work in a phased approach to ensure orderliness and full production is anticipated to resume shortly,” the company said in a brief statement.

Guyana Goldfields said as a result of the three operational days lost, the company estimates that approximately 22,500 tonnes were not processed. However, full year production guidance remains unaffected at 145,000 to 160,000 ounces of gold.              Continue reading

Canadian business chamber to open doors in Guyana amid oil, gold rush

Canada on Monday announced plans to established a business chamber in Guyana, as several Canadian companies step up preparations to search for oil offshore the South American nation.

Canada’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Lilian Chatterjee made the announcement at a reception at the Marriott Hotel to mark her country’s 152nd anniversary since three provinces came together to form that North American country.        Continue reading

Guyana – OIL: First Lady commissions ExxonMobil’s first FPSO for Guyana

First Lady Sandra Granger on Saturday 23rd June 2019, commissioned the ‘Liza Destiny’, the first in a series of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels for ExxonMobil Guyana at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.

The vessel will depart Singapore in July and is expected to arrive in Guyana in September to prepare for the commencement of oil production for the Liza Phase 1 project in the Stabroek Block by the first quarter of 2020.

Mrs. Granger was accompanied by Director of the Department of Energy, Dr. Mark Bynoe.    Continue reading
