Cricket: ICC proposes sweeping changes for the game
Cricket: A new Imperium – Sweeping changes for the game
Stabroek News – 27 January 2014 – Tomorrow, the Board of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will begin deliberations on a proposal by its Finance & Commercial Affairs (FCA) committee for sweeping and astonishing changes in the way the game is run and how tours are scheduled. At the core of the proposal is that India, Australia and England would take charge of the game and that they would be immune to relegation in the two-tiered system that is also being promulgated.
It is in essence the cricketing version of the permanent five of the United Nations Security Council, as regressive and in need of urgent reform as that model is. And just as the permanent five were installed as the victors at the end of the Second World War, it is proposed that these three be ordained on the basis of the money they bring to the game and the level of the public interest in their teams. TOP 6 COUNTRIES THAT GREW FILTHY RICH FROM ENSLAVING BLACK PEOPLE
October 27, 2013 – By Atlanta Black Star staff
The United States of America
Slavery transformed America into an economic power. The exploitation of Black people for free labor made the South the richest and most politically powerful region in the country. British demand for American cotton made the southern stretch of the Mississippi River the Silicon Valley of its era, boasting the single largest concentration of the nation’s millionaires.
But slavery was a national enterprise. Many firms on Wall Street, such as JPMorgan Chase, New York Life and now-defunct Lehman Brothers, made fortunes from investing in the slave trade, the most profitable economic activity in New York’s 350-year history. Slavery was so important to the city that New York was one of the most pro-slavery urban municipalities in the North.

The Allicocks’ of Noitgedacht – By Dmitri Allicock
The Allicocks’ of Noitgedacht – By Dmitri Allicock
When you start about family, about lineage and ancestry, you are talking about every person on earth. Alex Haley– Author of 1976 Roots
Beyond the populated coastal areas of early Guyana, rivers formed the natural highways, winding inland where undisturbed impenetrable vegetation closes in upon its banks. It was in the latter part of the 1700s that a family of Allicocks sailed 65 miles up the Demerary[1] River and decided to drop anchor at a location called Noitgedacht and would call it home for centuries.
One of the most common names still found in Upper Demerara is Allicock and the story of this family is interwoven within the history of the area and historical Guyana.
The journey of the original Allicock settlers is thought to be originating out of England via the colonies of America, before entering the Caribbean and Demerara. The actual name was also altered from its original form and probably on entrance into America as history appears to point to. Read More »
