I see Boris is in another scandal, over there ….
Putin pushing his luck at the Ukraine border ….
Biden getting frustrated by the filibuster – Manchin and Sinema, notwithstanding.
Pressures building all around by the pandemic, supply chain issues and some leaders looking for a distraction ….
Putin may be under-estimating the resolve of NATO and the economic pickle that is testing their economies —
Did they tell Putin there would be economic sanctions if he invades?
I say, if he believes the other guys won’t go to war — He’s not paying attention!!

Caracas Chronicles:
Dear reader,
I’ve got a tune stuck in my head.
Flew in from Miami Beach B.O.A.C.
Didn’t get to bed last night
On the way the paper bag was on my knee
Man, I had a dreadful flight
And sure that paper bag was handy (for hyperventilating or vomiting) when we heard that Russia is trying to stick Venezuela in the middle of a Cold War-like trolling campaign to pressure the US in the Ukraine talks.
Although we couldn’t find a transcript of the statement, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that they didn’t rule out the possibility of sending military assets to Cuba and Venezuela if the talks fail.
Most of the press, and the world actually, has taken this as a warning that they would deploy troops to Venezuela.
The response of the Venezuelan government was to say that Russia was talking about military cooperation — something that has been going on for a while.
Anyway, we don’t think Russia will rush to make any efforts to clear the air if something was lost in translation, as the “military deployment” narrative fits right into its troll war (at least that’s how the US is looking at it).
But as professor Guillermo Tell Aveledo said, one thing is one thing and another thing is another thing:
“There are QUANTITATIVE and QUALITATIVE DIFFERENCES between MILITARY ADVISORY and MILITARY DEPLOYMENT.”
By the way, the intro is from Back in the USSR:
