To our Museum and Archives family and supporters, we would like to say thanks for your support during the past years.
Seasons Greetings, Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa.
On August 7th 2021, we celebrated in Guyana our third anniversary at the Museum Compound in Buxton, with a program held live and virtually, attended by members of the Board of Directors, the Young Visionaries, with drumming and folk songs. Libation and address was by Deon Abrams and chaired by Bonita Hatton with address by Keith Easton, the founder and President of the Friends of Villages Museum & Archives in the USA.
Also, in recognition of our third year Anniversary, we held in the USA our 2nd Biennial Virtual Special Awardees Recognition and Fundraising on November 14th 2021 and raffle which was drawn live and presented virtually from the Taste of the Caribbean in Maryland on December 17th 2021.
The theme of the 2nd Biennial Virtual Special Awardees Recognition was “Rethinking the Future of Museum and Archives – a conversation”. The Keynote person was Dr. Michelle J. Wilkinson, a Guyanese who is a curator for the African American Museum in Washington DC., who answered questions prepared by our Museum Founder, Keith Easton. She was introduced by Patrick Bathersfield and Candace Simon-Benn.
Special recognition was given to Guyana’s Ambassador to the USA, Hon. Samuel A. A Hinds and Prince Georges’ County, Maryland, State Attorney, Hon. Aiesha Braveboy for their congratulatory messages.
