OilNow is an online-based Information and Resource Centre which serves to complement the work of all stakeholders in the oil and gas sector in Guyana.
A public notice from the Ministry of Natural Resources states that the EOI also includes design, construction and financing of a power plant fueled by natural gas where power will be delivered to the national grid.

The EOI is also targeting parties interested in industries that can utilize natural gas for natural gas driven developments and growth.
According to the notice, for this initial phase, projects must have a maximum of 10 million metric cubic feet per day (mmcfd) with a preference for projects utilizing 1-5 mmcfd.
The notice said responses to the EOI will be used to determine parties that will be selected to work with the government in accomplishing these objectives.
The Gas-to-Energy project will utilise associated natural gas from ExxonMobil’s Liza field with the pipeline passing through Crane and other communities before being landed at Wales on the West Bank of Demerara where the power generation facility will be constructed.
Gas-to-Energy project to create over 700 jobs
The offshore pipeline will be connected to an underground pipeline onshore that will be 27 km long and 12 inches in diameter. It is expected to follow existing roads/canals within a corridor selected by the government.
The project is expected to last for at least 25 years and is generally anticipated to have a positive effect on the economy of Guyana as a result of more affordable and reliable electricity, as well as increased local employment and procurement opportunities.

The highly anticipated project is expected to pave the way for a massive industrial park located at Wales which is expected to occupy just over 10,000 acres of land.

The govt. should invite the State of Israel to participate. Not only will Israel not steal from Guyana, but it provide protection from Guyana’s enemies and believe it or not, Guyana has many who would love to get their hands on the country’s petroleum resources.
About 20% of Guyana’s offshore hydrocarbon resources are in the form of natural gas. Guyana will just be using a fraction of that resource domestically. The rest has to be exported as liquified natural gas (LNG). There is a growing need for LNG in Latin America, for example in Brazil and Argentina.
