This controversy could be easily resolved by: 1) Everybody shares the same dinning room. 2) Selection of Chinese and Guyanese dishes is served for the staff and management to choose. Overall, it seems to me that the management of Aurora Gold Mines is either ignorant, incompetent, racist or all of the above.

More than likely chinese have no respect for, Guyanese politicians,Guyanese Business,Guyanese people and Guyana, this is how they view almost all third world countries. It is obvious they want/prefer chinese workers. As seen in the USA if people (collected $$) don’t confirm they will expose them, so don’t expect a strong response from the Government. Look, in their own country they treat their workers like slaves, to supply low cost, why would Guyanese expect anything different.
Question, does the government fast track chinese workers for Guyanese Citizenship????, this I think is an important question, because I was reading some Caribbean countries are strongly against this request, of buying citzenship (afraid of “flooding”) probably the only sensible thing they have done recently.
Unless there is specific tough legislation, to support Guyanese workers from ALL foreign companies, the problem will fester.
The tick should never be allowed to wag the dog, in this case the chinese are the ticks!

Looks a bit like (neo-) colonialist attitudes to me.

The foreigners are also paid way higher, while Guyanese have to work hard for G$1500 a day.

Why do they have to import Chinese/ foreign workers? .. aren’t there enough Guyanese who have worked in gold mines and or managed them? I’m aware that some companies like to bring senior management in to their new projects but China has the reputation of using this as a means of exporting their people to keep their population at home in manageable numbers. Just look at the countries in Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Tanzania etc. The food discrimination is absolutely ridiculous! Guyanes have been preparing Chinese food for decades!

i remember Demba (before nationalization) started to appoint many qualified Guyanese to senior positions.Today there are many more qualified and experienced Guyanese to fit the senior positions, in many of the ongoing companies, and soon in the oil Industry.
My opinion is that maybe there is something to hide.
