West Indies vs. South Africa, at St. Georges, Grenada – T20 series – July 1, 2021:
South Africa turned the tables on the West Indies today by winning to toss and asking the hosts to bat first. In hindsight, it might have been a mistake as they struggled the whole time while losing wickets at regular intervals, and falling 21 runs short of the target – West indies 167, SA 146.
Quinton de Kock was again South Africa’s best batsman, scoring another stylish innings of 60. He’s by far head and shoulders above his teammates in all formats.
The series is level at two wins a side with the decider set for Saturday. It will be an exciting finale to the 5-match series. To a man, the West Indies are a more powerful, destructive unit than their opponents and should have already locked up the series. But, as usual, they often fail to apply themselves at the crease, perishing to injudicious shot selections.
Opener Lendl Simmons and the skipper Kieron Pollard (both Trinis) were the main run-getters for the West Indies, with 47, and 51 not out, respectively. All-rounder Dwayne Bravo (also a Trini) was the pick of the West Indies bowlers with 4 wickets for 19 runs in his allotted 4 overs, a T20 career-best.
