Canada just ranked – The Best Country In the World – 2021 Report

Canada has claimed first prize in the annual 2021 Best Countries Report

For the first time in the study’s six year history, Canada has been deemed the globe’s best country overall, usurping incumbent country Switzerland, which has held the title since 2017.

The Best Countries Report is a yearly ranking released by US. News & World Report, BAV Group, and the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.

The report evaluated 79 nations using 76 different metrics, or attributes, taking into account how countries are perceived, economics, military presence, education, and quality of life.

More than 17,000 individuals from 36 countries spread across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa were surveyed. More than 10,000 of those surveyed were “informed elites”, whatever that means. Over 4,900 were “business decision-makers”, and the rest were considered general public.

There were a number of new metrics added to this year’s report, including racial equity, commitment to social justice, adaptability, and commitment to climate goals.

Canada has moved up from number two in 2020 to first place for best overall country. It’s followed by Japan, Germany, Switzerland, and Australia. The United States comes in sixth place. Iraq come last at 78th place.

“[Canada] is also perceived as having a good job market,
caring about human rights and is committed to social justice. Additionally, the country finished No. 1 in being viewed as not corrupt and respecting property rights,” says the report.

Canada also ranked first in Quality of Life and Social Purpose. It came in sixth place for Entrepreneurship, third for most business-friendly countries, and third in Agility.

    Congratulations Canada and Canadians
Most Canadians are economic migrants who
arrived in Canada in past few decades unlike Switzerland the previous winners.
Hope Canada remains #1 for many more years.

Kamtan, I need to correct a common misconception. Switzerland is full of immigrants and this has been the case for the last 100 years. Many Swiss have relatives born abroad. The non-Swiss population is at 25% and 40% of have a migratory background. Many of the key Swiss industries were started by immigrants, including Nestlé (Immigrant from Germany), watch and banking industry (huguenot refugees from France), ABB (UK), IWC (USA), Roche (huguenots), just to mention a few. The Swiss Universities host some whether between 30-60% foreign faculty members. In fact, Switzerland looks more like Canada than many people might have expected.

Same here, congratulations to Canada! Good to see that Switzerland, my fatherland, scoring 4th place is also doing well too. Wouldn’t it be wonderfu to see my motherland, Guyana, among the top ten by 2030?

    Adventure (best to visit)

Something very wrong with the List in caption: Best to Visit

As someone that lives in Canada I’d have to disagree with the whole article making claim that candidates the best place.
Living in the most populated Province Ontario and within a hour drive of the most populated city Toronto I continue to stay no way Justin Trudeau must have paid someone off.

Is it true that the police in Canada arrest men for false accusations?

  • Clyde Duncan  On 04/14/2021 at 8:27 pm

Eugene Ross: You have my sincere sympathy – Wha?

    You live under a bridge?

Traffic around there is around the heaviest in the world.

Like the Don Valley Parkway – They really park there during rush hour.

      Clyde
In UK we have a town called CROYDON
south of City of London. It is referred to as “CONCRETE JUNGLE” !
Most cities of the planet will fit that name.
Some of the most corrupt places of the planet
are referred to as “capital city” aka concrete jungles !
      “Pass …best avoided”…
      Thanks but no thanks !

      IMO

They can’t afford to put their heating on in their big mansions
      They walk around with blankets
      Show off Guyanese Canadians!

      • Dennis Albert  On 04/17/2021 at 5:11 pm

But there are a few Guyanese from Canada who got rich from selling those mansions and are in Guyana sporting up?
