Feb 26, 2021 – Kaieteur News – In a judgment delivered yesterday, the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) allowed the appeal of Merlene Todd, a Guyanese embroiled in a battle over a city property, which was sold to her on the basis of a fake power of attorney. In confirming Todd’s ownership to the land, the CCJ urged the Government of Guyana to urgently consider reform of the Deed’s Registry Act.
According to a summary of its judgment, the CCJ outlined that Allan Price (now deceased) owned the West Half of Lot 153 Queenstown, Georgetown. Continue reading

Since the 19th century, Venezuela has claimed a good part of what is now the Republic of Guyana. Venezuelan kids were used to seeing that “zona en reclamación” as a striped area attached to our country’s Eastern border, and imagine it like the hind legs of a cow, a rhinoceros, or even an angry elephant, whose head lies between the Guajira and the Paraguana peninsula.
