US POLITICS: Statement of Apology – By Thomas Lifson | American Thinker

January 15, 2021 –Statement of Apology – By Thomas Lifson | American Thinker:

We received a lengthy letter from Dominion’s defamation lawyers explaining why they believe that their client has been the victim of defamatory statements.  Having considered the full import of the letter, we have agreed to their request that we publish the following statement:

American Thinker and contributors Andrea Widburg, R.D. Wedge, Brian Tomlinson, and Peggy Ryan have published pieces on www.AmericanThinker.com that falsely accuse US Dominion Inc., Dominion Voting Systems, Inc., and Dominion Voting Systems Corporation (collectively “Dominion”) of conspiring to steal the November 2020 election from Donald Trump.

These pieces rely on discredited sources who have peddled debunked theories about Dominion’s supposed ties to Venezuela, fraud on Dominion’s machines that resulted in massive vote switching or weighted votes, and other claims falsely stating that there is credible evidence that Dominion acted fraudulently.

THESE STATEMENTS ARE COMPLETELY FALSE AND HAVE NO BASIS IN FACT. Industry experts and public officials alike have confirmed that Dominion conducted itself appropriately and that there is simply no evidence to support these claims.

IT WAS WRONG FOR US TO PUBLISH THESE FALSE STATEMENTS. We apologize to Dominion for all of the harm this caused them and their employees. We also apologize to our readers for abandoning 9 journalistic principles and misrepresenting Dominion’s track record and its limited role in tabulating votes for the November 2020 election. WE REGRET THIS GRAVE ERROR.

SNOPES REPORTED:

American Thinker is the latest organization to issue a statement admitting that its coverage of the 2020 election involved a number of false statements related to voter fraud.

In the days leading up to and following the 2020 presidential election on Nov. 3, 2020, U.S. President Donald Trump and conservative media outlets such as Newsmax and American Thinker repeatedly spread false statements claiming that the election had been stolen via voter fraud. One of the most repeated – and repeatedly debunked – claims was that Dominion Voting Systems had used its software to rig the election.

We have published several articles debunking these claims. Other news outlets and election officials have also thoroughly investigated and debunked claims that Dominion had engaged in fraudulent activity to rig the election. But you don’t have to take our word for it. On Jan. 15, 2021, the conservative website American Thinker published a statement admitting that it had published false statements about voter fraud.

I am very pleased to see the Dominion is clamping down on all these people and news outlets that perpetuate the falsehoods of massive election fraud in the US presidential elections. This is an important step to curb the baseless claims underlying the “Big Lie” of the stolen reelection of Donald Trump. Not a single stage court nor the US supreme court have seen any credible evidence present in support of these false claims. They only serve to discredit the Biden presidency. One needs to also keep in mind that the election of Trump in 2016 was never seen as being fraudulent by the Democrats. Some recounts, for example in Wisconsin, were done, but Hillary Clinton accepted defeat on election night. By contrast, Trump has not done so to date and will probably never do so during his life. Sad from him and his legacy, but the US democracy will prevail over such bad losers.

Clyde, many thanks for posting this very important video! Steve Schmidt is a former member of the Republican party and founder of the conservative Lincoln Project (along side with George Conway). He hardly can be called a “liberal” or “socialist”. His statements should be heard on the conservative side. There is a difference between being conservative or fascist/populist/authoritarian. The former operates on the basis of the constitution and accepts the basic principle of liberal democracy. The latter once the establish authoritarian rule and abolish the basis of democracy to ensure they can stay in power indefinitely. The US has the choice between “Rule of Law” or “Law of Rule”. I hope they choose the former for the better of the free world.
