Treatments to remove amyloid plaques using antibodies are currently in clinical trials and one drug might be approved by the FDA later in 2021. Hence, there is hope. The ultimate goal will be the development of an oral drug to treat Alzheimer disease, but this is at least 10 years away from getting into the clinic.
