It’s no longer your problem President Granger. Leave them to self destruct.

  • Janet James  On August 18, 2020 at 11:43 am

I understand the President is reaching out to the diaspora, who are highly intelligent and have excellent qualifications.

  • CDS Maraj  On August 18, 2020 at 12:29 pm

I must agree with You Mr.Porgy, this is not EX President Granger Problem.
Every New Government has the option to Vett fairly and clean house of all incompetent performers. It is a new beginning and every Government wants qualified, honest and dedicated civil servants on their team. Political appointments without qualification for the job and it’s responsibilities is the biggest mistakes most Government leaders make especially in key ministerial portfolio and this was clearly seen in the last Government at every level. You may not agree with me but it was clearly displayed for the entire world to see and no one can dispute the despicable incompetence of Mr. Lowenfield and all those who colluded in the 4 months delay in declaring the winner of the 2020 election.
This election declaration delay will never be forgotten by all the Guyanese people in all future elections.
Anyway Good luck and all the best for the Guyanese people going forward.God Bless Guyana and all it’s people May Unity and Prosperity prevail.

Your passive aggressive take on this article has not gone unnoticed by me. You are a PPP supporter, no question about it so don’t try to pretend otherwise. You have bashed the former government and their ministers….do you even know their names much less their qualification Have you done any background checks on the former administration to find out what their academic qualifications are? Did you do any checks on the present members of the PPP cabinet? Do you really think that Ali has the qualifications to be the President and especially be the overseer of the office of the Minister of Finance? His qualifications have been questionable from the start and when it comes to that Doctorate he claims to have achieved. Well the University of the West Indies will never turn away a fat donation to their coffers as they’re always strapped for cash.

President Granger and his government achieved quite a lot of positive things during its short 4 years in office. What did the PPP achieve in their 23 years in power, and especially during the last 12 years with Jagdeo? They did nothing for the country and they’re the reason why the sugar estates had to be closed. Now APNU is being blamed for the failure of the sugar industry and Jagdeo seems to think that the PPP can resurrect it. Well good luck with that. That will be like throwing pearls to swine. That money can be better served by building affordable housing for Guyanese who never had the benefits of owning land during 23 years of PPP governance. The best of everything went to PPP supporters. Therefore, I think you really need to take a step back and think about the crap you wrote.

Georgy Porgy MARAJ is a JUST COME to Guyana’s politics. He hasn’t got a clue about the rape of Guyana that took place during 23 years of PPP power and, especially that snake Jagdeo during his tenure.

  • Kman  On August 18, 2020 at 3:42 pm

Granger? You did the same bloody thing so shut your mouth

    • Ram esh  On August 19, 2020 at 2:31 pm

      I fully agree, kman.

  • Tata  On August 18, 2020 at 7:22 pm

YOU shut “Yo” mouth Kman! Guyana is being led by BLIND MICE. YES!!!! The PUPPET government the American, British, Canadian and EU installed. Ambassador Lynch was the arbitrator of the FRAUD; a little known country with a HUGE oil find; a launching pad to Venezuela; a divided nation with a DEMENTED, BIGOTED, ARROGANT, NARCISSISTIC ‘man’ name Jagdeo was the “jewel in the crown” for international interference into Guyana’s politics. No none needs a diploma or degree to understand the role the ABCE countries played in OUR country. These “white folks” can’t mess with Russia, China or any other European nation with life-long corruption and Human Right violation but ole people sa “monkey know wha lim fo jump on.” In the end, there’s no other people in the world with so much tolerance for hate.

We need stability and civility as well as cooperation and mutual respect in order to get the country past recent uncertainties and hostilities and back on track. We don’t really have a choice.

I could not agree more with our comments!

  • C.S.D. Maraj  On August 19, 2020 at 12:52 pm

For Your Information Mr. Gregory Porgy, Let me make one thing very clear. I am not any Political party supporter. I call it as I see it with facts you may not like but the Truth is the Truth. Let me give you a history lesson on Guyana from the 60’s to present day
I have been in Guyana during the 60’s noted as the most prosperous times in Guyana’s history when Rice, Sugar, Bauxite,Gold, Manganese, Lumber and even Coconut were all products Guyana shipped abroad successfully and made Guyana Financially stable.
Political Party in Power P.P.P. Guyana dollar was par to the US dollar. I do not know if you were in a Crib at that time.
Then came the 70’s Political Party in power PNC. i wittiness a severe decline in export of these products and by the end of the 70’s and early 80’s Guyanese were lining up for food stuff. I was one of those Guyanese. The Guyana dollar devalued to $200.00 Guyana dollar to $i.00 US dollar reason no foreign exchange to buy goods like flour, cooking oil Etc. Etc.From 80’s to 90’s a total disaster Rice and sugar sharp decline, Bauxite shipments reduced sharply and by the end of the PNC reign the Bermine bauxite plant was closed permanently..Sugar Estates closing down,Rice production decline, Unemployment at an all time high.Guyana heading towards bankruptcy.During this period 80’s and 90’s right into early 2000 the infrastructure deteriorated from the Airport structure to Roads, Bridges and steamers,The railway from Georgetown to Rosignol was dismantled so the cheapest mode of transport connecting a vital routes were taken out completely. This is insane and total incompetence and unbelievable decision made by the Government in power PNC .I wittiness all of the above personally.I call it as I see it The Guyana dollar Exchange Value is now $250.00 Guyana dollar to $1.00 US dollar.
Now by mid 2000 there was an election and the Guyanese People had enough they wanted a change The PPP Party had an overwhelming victory and immediately they went to work they managed to negotiate a loan from the world bank IMF. They started building the infrastructure and revamping the rice, sugar and Lumber industry.
I did not see anyone lining up for food again.I travelled from Orilla to Lethem and covered entire Essequibo. Guyana stability and prosperity was noticed so foreign investors came.During this period Every main road in Guyana was asphalted all wooden bridges were replaced with Concrete bridges the Demerara and Berbice Floating bridges were built. The Joint venture between Surinam and Guyana resulted a new modern ship with a new modern up graded stelling at Crabwood Creek thus creating more business between the two countries.I was there I saw this major improvement. The new joint venture between Brasil and Guyana building the bridge to transport goods on the Makenzie highway to ships in the Demerara river. Agreement between Brasil and Guyana to dredge the mouth of the Demerara river for larger ships and especially Tourist Ships. I saw so many new modern schools built in the interior. For Sports a 25 Million Cricket Stadium
was donated to Guyana and all its people. The first tourist came to Guyana and the building the new Cheddie Jagan Airport started.
Now 2005 PNC and AFC formed a Collation and achieve victory to be the Governing party. I challenge you to list 6 important items that the Collation achieved in the last 4 years which help the Guyanese people. When You can do so I will list 12 items that the collation did which results in a Bankrupt Guyana.
Thank God for the Oil. Oh where is the 18 million US hidden.Note You do not have to be affiliated with any party to see the truth.

    • Bernard  On August 19, 2020 at 3:29 pm

You have made some good points, great detail. But I must say it was a bit challenging to read through your comment since it was written in one long, continuous paragraph.

If I may offer a suggestion (and it is a general one), please write your story in short paragraphs so that the reader can get through it with little difficulty.

      Thanks, Bernard.

    • Georgy Porgy  On August 19, 2020 at 6:25 pm

STUUPPS!!!!! You know absolutely nothing or you would not have made non factual remarks about an administration you were not familiar with. You talk about FACTS….where are they I suggest you learn about this new administration so you can at least get their facts accurate.. You and the rest like yourself who write on this blog are all PPP people so I don’t expect you to acknowledge anything good that President Granger and APNU accomplished during their short 4 years in office. Let’s see what your people party is going to accomplishing after 4 years. For someone to write that nonsense and claim you are not a supporter of a particular party is pure hog wash. For you not to acknowledge the things that President Granger and APNU accomplished shows you are bias and not at all truthful and factual in your remarks. You’re just an out and out LIAR!!!

      • Curtis  On August 19, 2020 at 6:49 pm

Georgy Porgy, like every other PPP mouth piece here they keep harping about the 60s, 70, 80, Burnham and whatever else. I know your comments to Maraj pertained to the last 4 years of President Granger and APNU and his comments about THAT incompetent administration who lacked intelligent people and no academic qualifications. Now he’s trying to counter your comments with old history and his travels across the length and breadth of Guyana which has absolutely nothing to do with what you said.

  • CSD Maraj  On August 20, 2020 at 1:07 pm

Thank You Mr. Bernard for your suggestion.
Gentlemen we must learn from past mistakes, that is why I always like to go back in history,I am a historian so I call it as I see it.
You may not like it but what I said in the long paragraph above is a History Lesson of facts based on what actually happened and achievements made during the PNC and PPP time in office from the 60’s,70’s, 80’s,90’s and 2000 and to see how far we have come.
Like I said I am not any PPP or PNC supporter.
I am a historian with true facts. You may not like what I write but the truth is the truth and sometimes it hurts.
Please show me what are the significant achievements made in the last 4 years in regards to Trade, Infrastructure,Tourism, Markets for Products like Sugar, Rice, Bauxite, Coconuts, Lumber and Transportation. Please Please Mr.Porgy the Guyanese people like to know.
    Thank You,
Some day all our Guyanese children will learn about our Good and bad days of our history in a new book with true facts on ( WISMAR ) The darkest days of our country a story no one wants to tell because of shame and embarrassment
I wonder where You were when it happened.

    • Georgy Porgy  On August 20, 2020 at 2:31 pm

History is history. You did not answer any of the questions I asked that deal with your comments about President Granger and his administration (2015 to 2020). Your history lesson/arguments have no bearing on what transpired during the President Granger time in office and you chose to sidestep my questions TWICE. Get off your soapbox…..it’s just all suds.

  • CDS Maraj  On August 21, 2020 at 3:02 pm
