Now that the trial is an ended will Democrats raise the white flag of surrender?

President Donald Trump was charged with “abuse of power” and the risible charge of “obstruction of Congress’, by the Democrats, led by Rep. Adam B. Schiff, Nevertheless, even if their false case against the President on Ukraine were not so deceptive, any objective observer would be skeptical of their good faith, given their nonstop, three-year impeachment quest over things too trivial to be admitted out loud, and their ever-changing charges against Trump.

His election victory was a seismic blow to the left, leaving it paralyzed with hatred and reducing it to a cyclopean mob of bloated self-importance and radical opposition.

The impeachment trial and speeches were overly replete with congressional Democrats acting as pseudo-guardians of the Constitution, in so much that a Martian visitor listening might arrive at the conclusion that he had stumbled upon a clique of constitutional originalists—that the ghost of earthling James Madison, fourth U. S President, Founding Father and architect of the Constitution had possessed each and every one of them. Additionally, I wondered if the words “threat to our democracy” was not a subtle Democratic call to arms. One has to admire their energy.

The Democratic impeachment cabal was nothing more than an unnecessary and wasteful proceeding, with numerous members of the House of Representatives and the Senate making epic fools of themselves. Let us not forget Mitt Romney of the great state of Utah, who deserves an award for his never-to-be-forgotten performance.— voting with the Democrats.   Sen. Susan Collins did likewise, but she had a pithy explanation, and she shut down quickly

Nothing has done more to unite Republicans —than the Democrats’ quixotic, vendetta-fueled crusade against President Donald Trump. Now that Trump has been acquitted, would it a clear message send, could this, or should this be the end?  Or should the American people be waiting in expectancy for new allegations, or more raunchy declarations to surface between now and the election. Next is a campaign to defeat enough of the 23 Republican senators up for re-election and, if possible keep President Trump from winning re-election.  Already Representative Jerrold Nadler, Democrat of New York and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told reporters that he would “likely” subpoena Mr. Bolton, who has confirmed in an unpublished book that Donald Trump conditioned security aid  on Ukraine’s willingness to investigate the president’s Democratic rivals, the central allegation in the trial.. 25072672

Donald John Trump has been such a bad president—such a threat to the Republic – it is imperative that he be removed from office, that it has caused the Democrats to virtually ignore their legislative duties  for over two years. .Certainly, the American people expect better of the House and the Senate. Did the Democrats believe that their continuous hectoring of how despicable the President was, that they would eventually sway voters to their position, even though their contempt for Trump reveals their similar disdain for his 63 million supporters?

As America head towards election, has the Democrats made clear their platform. They have virtually no issues on which to run, except the promise of free stuff from Elizabeth Warren’s student loan forgiveness plan, which is useless for those who struggled to pay off their student loans  without assistance, and Bernie Sanders free Medicare For All.

A recent Gallup poll released on January 24,  showed how difficult it would be for Democrats to score victory at the polls. According to the poll, 41 percent of Americans “are satisfied with the way things are going in the U.S.” That’s the highest satisfaction level in 15 years. The last time 40% or more of Americans were satisfied, George W. Bush was in the first year of his second term as president. The Iraq War was ongoing, but some of the challenging events that plagued Bush in his second term — Hurricane Katrina, consistent majority opposition to the Iraq War, high gas prices and the economic recession — had yet to occur.

Seventy-two percent of Republicans are satisfied, a number likely to grow if the economy remains strong and there is stability in international affairs. Only 14 percent of Democrats are satisfied. This is likely, in part, because President Trump is racking up success after success without any cooperation from the other party. Had the Democrats showed any modicum of cooperation on at least some issues (other than the new trade agreement between the U.S.A, Canada and Mexico) they might have been able to legitimately claim some credit, but their opposition to all things Trump and their relentless attempts to undo the results of the 2016 election leaves them out in the political cold. A remarkable aspect of this Gallup poll is that it was taken in the middle of  the Senate impeachment trial and in the face of some of the most hostile media coverage any president has ever had to endure in modern times.

The New York Times and the Washington post have derobed themselves of any raiment of fairness by pursuing Trump non-stop. Their news coverage, editorials and virtually all of their columnists are constantly looking for new ways to express opposition to and hatred of the president. According to the conservative Media Research Center, which monitors the broadcast network’s evening news programs, “… evening news coverage of the opening arguments of both sides, found ABC, CBS, and NBC did not live up to the standard they demanded of Republicans. They gave Democrats double the airtime and showered their arguments with mostly praise, while expressing only criticism of the President’s legal team.”

While the Democrats may develop a sense of smugness about this as they keep company with their media fellow travelers, the end result is that President Trump has been newly empowered to take his case for four more years of prosperity and relative peace to the public.

Putting aside any unforeseeable disaster or tragedy (always a possibility), Like it or not, fake it, or take it, reach or impeach  Donald John Trump is positioned to win re-election, perhaps in a landslide, which will send the left and most of the media into another deep depression.  Now that the impeachment trial is over, the Democrats can cease hyperventilating, and commence meditating, becoming united in the fight to avert another shock at the November ballot box.   The Democrats may finally play an unforgotten or misplaced card based on the rationale that rational people could not have elected such an unpresidential maniac, therefore the election should be considered invalid. If you think about it, that’s really been their rationale for impeaching him all along, To save their face they must immediately be in the race

Aleuta—– the struggle continues.

For once I disagree with the author of this thesis, which exhibits a high level of thinking and use of vocabulary. It reminds me of listening to philosophical discourses by my cousin, the late, great, Dr Jacob Galton Bynoe. I am no politician – in fact I purposely distance myself from politics; but to seemingly gloat over the trump victory makes me think you have not been following the shenanigans of the man, who is the President of what was once a great nation, and leader of the world. From what I read about the failure to impeach, is that some Republicans gave a loyalty vote, others to stay in office. It would be interesting to see how many readers agree with your narrative.

On which planet does this lady live? Does she live in an alternative reality? She should take a look at George Conway’s commentaries in the Washington Post, if she wants to understand the dangers of the Trump presidency to the American Democracy. George Conway is, nota bene a conservative lawyer, life-long Republican party member, and husband of KellyAnn Conway. He knows what he is talking about, when he calls for Trump to be impeached and removed from office.

Regarding the impeachment trial, it was evident to all neutral observers that Trump has been abusing his power for personal gains in the Ukraine affair. Mitt Romney, the Republican Senator from Utah, came to the same conclusion in a public statement and many Republican law makers have said so in private.

The real scandal here is NOT that the Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff have dared to impeach the current president. They had no alternative after the Ukrainian scandal surfaced. And they may have a further reason to do so again in light of yesterday’s revelations that Trump intervene with the Attorney General Bill Barr asking for a leaner sentencing of his buddy Roger Ston, who is on trial for lying under oath. In response to Trump’s intervention, all four federal prosecutors resigned from the case, and one left the DoJ outright.

NO the scandal is that the Republicans are not curtailing a bullying president, who violates almost every rule that defines the Presidency and ensures the division of powers in the US.

Finally, I would like to remind Ms. Sam that Mitch McConnell’s stated several times in public that his primary aim was to make Barak Obama, a one-term president. As we all know he failed miserably in that task. In fact, the racism and disrespect the first black president had to endure from Republican lawmakers has been abominable. For example, he was called a layer during one of his state of the union addresses. This also includes Trump’s long campaign of lies claiming that Obama was not born in the US.

Overall, Ms. Sam’s commentaries are overly partisan, factually incorrect, and belong into the category of articles peddling “alternative facts”. In my humble opinion, they are more suitable for “Breitbart News” or one of Murdoch’s news papers than this news channel.

Please publish more articles by Adam Harris and ignore Yvonne Sam. Many thanks in advance!

You always. willing to mention the other side, fearless. The Democrats have finally destroyed their own party, all of them forced to defend Socialism, every program they promote has the possibility of bankrupting the country. Without open borders, and allowing illegals to vote, their base will quickly disappear.

Barack Obama bailed private banks during the GFC how is that socialism?

  • brandli62  On 02/12/2020 at 11:55 am

OMG, more Republican propaganda…. Wally, please ask yourself what Trump has done for you personally? Has he delivered the promised infrastructure projects? Are you paying less taxes? Has he delivered better health care to the American people, which he had promised? Has he reduced the American troops in the Middle East? No, he increased them in Saudi Arabia and betrayed the Kurds, loyal allies in the fight against ISIS.

Trump has destroyed the last remnants of decency in the Republican party and turned them into yes sayers. His campaign rallies remind me of Goebbels’ “Wollt Ihr den totalen Krieg?” speech in 1943 with a brain-less crowd cheering him on (

Times are scary in the US.

    Do not shoot the messenger:
It is truly unfortunate that Ms. Yvonne Sam’s has been labelled as a Trump supporter because she has pointed out the failings of the USA Democratic Party in her article. She is an analyst … and her analysis does not necessarily reflect her personal views.
Some reactions to her article remind me of the verbal attacks I received in August 2016 when I said that based on Trump’s speeches and crowd following, that I believed he would win in November 2016. I do not like Trump but I saw how he was manipulating the issues and presenting himself as America’s defender with his MAGA hat and Twitter feeds etc. He won …and they asked me how I knew hew would win.. They did not do their homework and listened to CNN and MSNBC…. who were also shocked by the results.

After he won … my friends suspected me even more as a pro-right Trump supporter… even as I explained that I was only analyzing what was the USA reality at that time.
A bit later… in 2017… I got even more flack as I projected that he would win again in 2020. The relentless attacks by the media e.g. Bezos’ Amazon owner of Washington Post, as well as the TV networks have not affected his 45% base …although many may believe he has failed as a “Conventional President”.
At first, Pelsosi did not want to go ahead with the Impeachment… fully well knowing that they could not pass that in the Senate. She was eventually forced to go ahead … and this has distracted and basically wrecked the Democratic Party as they have not projected a clear vision for Americans in this new world where Globalism is in retreat and Nationalism is taking hold in countries and even their regions and provinces e.g, Spain.
The Democrats have been distracted and are in disarray with no clear vision to present to the American populace.

So readers… Do not shoot the Messenger Yvonne Sam. Trump will win in 2020 not because he is a good president; not because he has not lied; not because he has not broken rules as charged; etc etc.
He will win because he laid out a plan and has executed most of it.. there is a long list e.g…. hundreds of conservative judges, two conservative judges on the Supreme Court; building his rickety wall; baiting everyone daily on his Twitter account; disrupting and being obnoxious as his supporters cheer saying that he has now turned the economy around and brought them jobs. Businessmen are cheering because he has cleared away many of the bottlenecks in establishing and running business etc etc.. None of the so called “positives” he has done are on the main street media…. but he ensures that the supporters know…. listen to his speeches in the rallies and on YouTube… and the massive crowds he draws.

We may call his followers SHEEP or even lemmings but “it is what it is”… and the reality is that there is no one in the Democratic Party that could beat him come November. His Twitter account will destroy the chosen Democrat with name calling while the divided Democrats will still be arguing whether they selected the right person to challenge him.

I do hope that the anti-Trumpites… especially those in the USA have strong hearts come November. Four more years of Trump will be too much for many to bear…. but that is the USA Reality ... Trump’s Daily TV Show!

    1 Live in Canada
2 Many relatives in the US, all die hard Democrats slowly letting go.
3 Ran like a bandit from Guyana and socialism, remember
4 If the US collapses Canada goes under in no time
5 I say give him a break…the Democrats did “enough”
6 I am unwilling to call millions and millions of Americans brainless
7 Most of you guys waiting for a Jesus/Gandhi/Mandela like saviour, not coming not coming.

Hello, I was so surprised to read this blog and felt compelled to say something. I am not into politics, all I do is vote because it’s my civic duty and I care. This presidency reminds me of Hans Christian Anderson’s story “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. I often wonder how so many intelligent and professional people cannot see through this presidency. Is this the new norm? How many of his people have been charged with unscrupulous behaviors. Who would know him better than his past personal lawyer, “the fixer” (in prison). Members of his party are afraid to speak up publicly so they go along with the program, and speak about him privately. This reality star is leading the greatest Democracy but expresses admiration for dictators and wish he could do the same. I live in America and have been told by many to keep my opinions to myself about the president, do not post anything or you will be targetted. Many feel they are living under a dictator. Trump did NOT win the popular vote meaning he was not elected by the majority of the people, the Electoral College vote determines the winner. Many were angry when Nancy Pelosi did not seek to impeach him after the Mueller findings, she did not think it was the route the Democrats should take, however to ignore his actions with Ukraine would have been like ignoring seeing a pickpocket taking your brother’s wallet. He was afraid of losing to Biden, and I think he has accomplished his goal. He has attempted to destroy Barack Obama’s legacy as he couldn’t destroy him via the Birther rumor. If President Obama had done 1/16 of what Trump has done, Trump would have been 1st inline calling for his
impeachment. The economy is doing well because of Trump or inspite of Trump? …and do most Americans own stocks? Barack Obama saved the US from a depression, does Trump know that? If he gets re-elected be prepared, as we haven’t seen the worst of his antics. The “Fact Checkers” will be working overtime. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

Socialism failed in Guyana, badly. Agreed! However, it’s a long stretch to accuse the Democrats in the US wanting to implement a socialist system.

If anything, they would prefer if the US would offer more decent unemployment insurance, universal health care, good public schools, affordable university education, sensible public transport, and a decent overall infrastructure. These issues standard in all other developed countries, including Switzerland which is hardly known as a socialist bastion.

I would not be surprised, if the reason you happily live in Canada and not the US is that you enjoy the benefits of the Canadian health care system, among other things.

  • wally n  On 02/12/2020 at 2:24 pm

“it’s a long stretch to accuse the Democrats in the US wanting to implement a socialist system”
you wrote that? Ya might be wrong, because that is the major proposal of all the democratic candidates, even if, they believed it…or not
You actually used “benefits” in the same sentence with Canadian Health care, you missed that by this much, phone a friend, ya might be wrong ….again
Lets agree to wait a while and see how many democrat leaning criminals go to jail……BUCKLE UP!

    • Trevor  On 02/13/2020 at 12:58 pm

Wally are you Guyanese or are you one of those racist white middle-aged men who post hatred online from the resort’s computer in Mexico? How can someone harbour viewpoints which are concernedly Trump rhetoric, yet fail to acknowledge that Guyanese as a whole are treated as second class citizens in the white countries?

Most Guyanese who have “right wing” views are usually against gender politricks, but this dog whistle of racism is strange. Only a white man benefits from Trump. No one else.

  • Ken Persaud  On 02/14/2020 at 2:09 pm

Yvonne Sam, I am at loss for words to describe the garbage you write. You do not speak for the vast majority of Guyanese or West Indians or the world.

Your ignorance knows no bounds. The Democrats were left no choice but to impeach the oddity in the White House. Mitch McConnell and the Republicans will pay at the polls, dearly. The con man will be sent packing in November and you will have to eat your words.

That was not an acquittal, it was a sham. It was a kangaroo court. Where on earth does the defence and the judge coordinate to fix the outcome of a trial? Where on earth are witnesses prevented from testifying?

The US Constitution has failed and now the misfit could declare himself president for life and cancel the election. Let’s hope not!

My prediction is that worst president in modern US history will be rebuffed in just eight and a half months.

The United States cannot afford four more years of madness. And you, Yvonne Sam should not be allowed to post your nonsense anywhere. It is embarrassing.

    • brandli62  On 02/15/2020 at 5:29 pm

Ken, I could not agree more. Thanks for such a strong and clear statement.

      • Ken Persaud  On 02/16/2020 at 1:57 am

        Thanks Brandi:

You, too, have a clear understanding of the facts.

  • Bernard  On 02/15/2020 at 3:20 pm

Yvonne Sam, I’d suggest that you take an hiatus from posting bile. It wasn’t that long ago that you were making fun at men with ED, without understanding the underlying reasons for it. That is not what a professional writer does. It’s what hacks do. You should be sanctioned for your unprofessionalism.
