CRICKET: No more prima donnas in West Indies teams

Last week Monday, Cricket West Indies’ selection panel released the names of the 15-member squad for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) Series in Sri Lanka. It was not the routine formal announcement of a group of names but rather a statement to the international cricketing world to ‘sit up and take notice,’ that West Indies cricket is serious business once again.

Evin Lewis, the most outstanding batsman in the recent home series against Ireland, and the young Guyanese batsman, Shimron Hetmyer were the surprising omissions from the team for the Sri Lankan tour. According to Roger Harper, the Chairman of the Selection Committee, they “missed out due to the fact that they came up short in the fitness test.” Apparently, there are now new minimum fitness standards.

Guyana Elections 2020: Voters will soon be able to find polling stations online


Voters will soon be able to find their polling stations online as the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has approved the list of 2,352 locations for publication.

Speaking with reporters following yesterday’s statutory meeting, Commissioner Sase Gunraj explained that an updated version of the search tool currently available on GECOM’s website (https://www.gecom.org.gy/home/ole) will include place of poll along with other aspects of the registration record.

Currently prospective voters can examine the Official List of Electors (OLE) to ensure that they are listed and verify their listed address.

Mayor of the City of New York, Bill de Blasio, and First Lady, Chirlane McCray, will on Feb. 27, honor 50 Guyanese citizens who have made outstanding contributions to their homeland, and the diaspora, during an exciting presentation to celebrate Guyana’s 50th Republic Jubilee.
The Awards Gala and cultural presentation, (invitation only) being hosted in collaboration with the Guyana Republic Jubilee Committee, and Three Counties Foundation, CEO James Richmond, will be held at Gracie Mansion, in New York City, from 5:30 pm.

Now that the trial is an ended will Democrats raise the white flag of surrender?

President Donald Trump was charged with “abuse of power” and the risible charge of “obstruction of Congress’, by the Democrats, led by Rep. Adam B. Schiff, Nevertheless, even if their false case against the President on Ukraine were not so deceptive, any objective observer would be skeptical of their good faith, given their nonstop, three-year impeachment quest over things too trivial to be admitted out loud, and their ever-changing charges against Trump.

His election victory was a seismic blow to the left, leaving it paralyzed with hatred and reducing it to a cyclopean mob of bloated self-importance and radical opposition.            Continue reading
