    Question
What is the salary of a police constable
in Guyana ? How does that compare
to the salary of other public servants ?
More importantly how does it compare
    to the political class/jackals ?
What about the drugs/gun dealers “pay offs”

When corruption is endemic in society
it’s a loose loose situation for the many
    not the few !
How can any economist manage an economy
    with so many unknown quantities…aka
    “Black holes”

    Now go figure

I would like to congratulate Adam Harris for reporting about these issues on a regular basis. Transparent and critical reporting is a first step in curbing corruption. Kantam’s point about police officers’ salaries is a further good point. Singapore had been successful in curbing corruption by paying public servants decent salaries, which made them less susceptible to bribes. In addition, a zero-tolerance policy needs to be implemented. Finally, it also seems to me that gun-control needs to be enforced. Lots of challenges for Guyana in the future.

Police corruption is endemic, it is promoted by people of influence . Jeffrey Thomas a former PNC Minister ,has been able to influence his cronies in t he police force to imprison an innocent man, because JT wants his property. JT and the police has allowed a crook John Pyneandy to occupy the innocent man property.JP is now making millions on a property he does not own. Bribery and corruption is the way to earn a living in this country.

      If factual
      Disgraceful !

      Go to jail
      Move directly to jail
      Do not pass go
      Do not collect $200

The Guyana Police Services need to be restructured and reorganized …..

They need a new complex built on higher ground with their own crime laboratory; a Federal Police – like the FBI or RCMP – and other police for the Regions.

This may entail hiring experienced officers and advisors from outside ….

There is going to be some rapid changes …. Therefore, the Police authority need a rapid response …. This is no time to be navel-gazing, I say.

Oh, and I like the name “Piranha” for your Guyana Elite Police Team.
