NYC: Guyanese family mourns as husband kills Queens newlywed woman

The couple tying the knot back in July

Dead is Donna ‘Rehanna’ Dojoy. Her 33-year-old husband  was reported to have killed himself on Friday night, shortly after the incident.

The couple was said to have been married in July but were facing domestic problems.
According to the New York Daily News, a hysterical cousin alerted cops after the suspected killer, 33-year-old Dinhwar Budhidat, sent her a text saying he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself.

“He texted me he killed her. He didn’t tell me how. Why me? Why’d he have to text me that? He’s such a damn coward,” said Budhidat’s cousin, who asked not to be named. “Why’d he have to do that to the poor girl?”

“The text, it was along the lines of ‘I killed her. I left her in the apartment and I’m gonna go kill myself‚’” said Yogindra Toolaram, another of Budhidat’s cousins.

“I got a phone call from my cousin who got the text he sent. She called me in a panic and we both rushed over here.”
The couple did not live together, said relatives.

When cops arrived just after 8 p.m. at the husband’s home on Albert Rd. near Whitelaw St. in Ozone Park, they found his estranged wife dead of multiple stab wounds in his first floor apartment, said police.

Cops later found a man hanging from a tree about 1 and 1/2 miles away in Spring Creek Park, south of the Belt Parkway.

Police were still working late Friday to conclusively identify the body found dangling from a branch in the wooded area, authorities said. “But it appears to be him,” said a police source.

The suspect and victim were wed in July, Toolaram said.

“Every relationship has problems,” said Toolaram. “I just didn’t think the problems would be big enough to result in such violence.”

“Every time you see a situation like this, the family members always say we never saw it coming, and I have the same answer,” he added. “He’s the coolest, calmest, funniest guy.”

While the New York Daily News reported that the incident occurred at the suspect’s Albert Road, Ozone Park, New York home, the New York Post said it took place at Dojoy’s residence.

‘Innocent infatuation’

The Post spoke with friends of the woman, who said Dojoy’s innocent infatuation with Roshan sent her husband into fits of rage.

“She told me when she was at home watching a movie or listening to a song [with Roshan in it] he would ask her to take it off because he would get so jealous,”  Mala Ramdhani, 52, a karaoke singer at Gemini’s Ultra Lounge in Ozone Park, where Dojoy tended bar, was quoted as saying.

“I think he loved her but at the same time, he was obsessed with her, because of the type of job she did, and she had a good [sexy] body,” Andel Rodney, 29, a chef at the lounge and a friend of Dojoy for four years added. “She looked good, she always made her money, so he was probably jealous of her.”

It was noted that Dojoy would tell her friends that Budhidat was controlling and violent. She talked about him abusing her, controlling her, beating her, scaring her, threatening to kill her,” Rodney added. “She never took it seriously because she loved him.”

    Guess jealousy may be motive.
    But as article suggested the
    “final solution” chosen.

Hope a “help line” is set up and manned
24/7 to reduce the suicide rate ?
Every one carries a mobile these days
…hope lessons learned by all concerned.

    RIP
