The results of the 2019 National Grade Six Assessment [NGSA] which was conducted in April is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. This is according to information released by the Ministry of Education.
The NGSA is designed to assess the capabilities of pupils, thereby allowing them to be suitably placed at secondary schools. Moreover, pupils are assessed in the subject areas of Mathematics, English, Social Studies and Science.
Last year, a total of 2,404 of the 14,000-odd candidates who participated failed to meet the benchmark to allow them placement. This was disclosed by Senior Education Officer within the Education Ministry, Ms. Carol Benn. Continue reading →

First Lady Sandra Granger on Saturday 23rd June 2019, commissioned the ‘Liza Destiny’, the first in a series of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels for ExxonMobil Guyana at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.
The vessel will depart Singapore in July and is expected to arrive in Guyana in September to prepare for the commencement of oil production for the Liza Phase 1 project in the Stabroek Block by the first quarter of 2020.

I have seen a lot of people who are suffering from hypertension and diabetes. It is as though almost everyone has developed these diseases.
When I was a young man, the only people who seemed to have high blood pressure were those who drank a lot of alcohol and smoked excessively. These were the middle aged men. But then again, people did not set much foot to doctors. If they felt a twinge or out of sorts, they resorted to herbal teas and medicines. They would not tell anyone who asked that they were not feeling well.
Surprisingly, I did not see many victims of strokes. But then again, not many people lived very long. They died a few years past seventy. But that was considered old age back then. Continue reading →
