The announcement at Babu Jaan didn’t come. The PPP is on auto-pilot. The PPP is in self-destruct mode. This means the PPP will not be in power in 2019. But could it get power in 2019? I honestly don’t know. But the Jagdeoite PPP is not doing anything to make that possibility and that probability come to life.

Guyana is facing an imminent election. A party with a sordid past and gargantuan baggage has to reshape its image to win that election. It is becoming pellucid with the passing of each day that the Freudian carcinoma that has been eating away at the PPP since Jagan’s horrendous strategic mistakes in the fifties is still chewing at the liver of the PPP.          Continue reading →

We hear a great deal about the founding fathers of America. But how about the Black mothers of America and the role they played in shaping the destiny of the nation? Phillis Wheatley’s verses lamented the institution of slavery in America. Wheatley was an accomplished poet who wrote her memoirs and published a number of poems on a variety of subjects. Her history is most interesting. Wheatley was born in Senegal and was captured and taken to the shores of America when she was seven years old. She was purchased by John Wheatley as a gift to his wife and they gave her the ‘Wheatley’ title.

“Guyanese Canadian kidnapped in China” – By Dave Rohee

Kidnapped is the true story of an international kidnapping event that took place in China in 2001. This terrifying incident happened to a Canadian businessman trying to develop an aviation business in a foreign country. Unknown to him at the time, the country he chose was considered the worse place for a foreigner to try and start a business.

This story is the hair-raising account of the kidnapping and its eventual outcome. There were several international law enforcement agencies involved with tracking down the perpetrators. These agencies worked diligently to find the criminals responsible for this kidnapping in an effort to apprehend them.    Continue reading →
