GUYANA SPEAKS – Bourda Bazaar – London UK. – Sunday 9th December 2018

The Guyana SPEAKS annual Bourda Bazaar offers a unique opportunity to shop Guyanese-style and nostalgically draws its inspiration from Bourda Market in Georgetown, Guyana.

Traditional Guyanese foods and drinks, hot and cold, will be on sale along with adult and children’s books (many heavily discounted), arts and crafts, creams and oils, jewellery and clothes and much much more.

GUYANA SPEAKS – Bourda Bazaar – London UK. – Sunday 9th December 2018

It is a opportunity to ‘lime’; to network with friends and family, to learn more about Guyana.  His Excellency the High Commissioner of Guyana, F. Hamley Case will offer the opening address.  Our guest of honour, Dr Samantha Tross, a recipient of the GHC’s Guyanese of the Year Award and the first black female orthopedic surgeon in the UK, will be sharing insights into her amazing journey to success and offering words of holiday cheer.  Festive recorded music will be played with live musical interludes from two distinguished musicians: Keith Waithe (flautist) and Aubrey Bryan (‘panologist’).

Our chosen charity this year is Lisa Punch’s POTS, an organisation aimed at the Prevention of Teenage Suicide in Guyana.  Orin Alexander (GUSDA) will be speaking to us about the importance of POTS and sharing insights into the work they do.

We will as usual be showing a rolling film of Bourda Market and running a raffle with a wide range of great prizes.

The Guyana SPEAKS team look forward to welcoming anyone and everyone!

Many thanks,

Juanita Cox
Co-Founder Guyana SPEAKS
