What I am about to write will raise the hackles in especially hospitals, but then again that is the idea.

I am hoping that we can spark some debate and a look at the operations of especially our local, privately-owned hospitals. Many of them are getting away with murder.

I was browsing the online news of CNN on Friday and stumbled on a piece headlined “C-section deliveries nearly doubled worldwide since 2000, study finds”.

Rising Star, Lisa Punch, has graced Guyana with yet another breathtaking performance. This time, the singer decided to cross into a new culture with an ode to revolutionary Indian activist, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, in honour of his 150th birth anniversary.

On October 3, 2018, the Indian High Commissioner released a video of Lisa Punch singing Gujarati Bhajan – “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye Je”, a song which is said to be Gandhi’s favourite Bhajan. Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo last evening made it clear that for his party the 2018 Local Government Elections are a dress rehearsal for the general elections, when it intends to take back government.

Despite sexual assault allegations, on October 6, 2018, Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in to the U.S. Supreme Court. His contentious nomination process before the male-dominated Senate Committee hammered home the gnawing reality: Women have yet to achieve equal footing with men under our legal system.

To achieve what may have been a lifelong ambition, Kavanaugh exposed his “two spirited daughters” to the public bashing of his integrity. Has he used the sexual allegations – which he has denied with tears and anger – as a teaching moment for his ten- and thirteen-year old daughters? Has he considered the possibility that his daughters could one day suffer the same trauma as his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford?
