Has Meghan Markle changed Britain’s attitude to race and royalty?

On the streets of multicultural Brixton there’s a warm enthusiasm for Saturday’s ‘more inclusive’ wedding

A bank holiday and more than 5,000 street parties marked the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, but with less than a week to go until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marry at Windsor Castle, the mood has shifted to embrace what has been called “a modern royal romance”. This wedding feels more relaxed, more inclusive, and on the streets of Brixton, south London, at least, is being met with enthusiasm.

“It’s brilliant. This wedding represents modern Britain,” says nursery manager Saba Abay, 30. Four months ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Brixton, which is home to Britain’s largest African-Caribbean community, in their second official engagement as a couple.

She is our Sister – Just be ready to catch her if she falls ….

Let’s be honest here, us Brits don’t like her much. The marriage is unlikely to last, bound to drop a few kids early on and then they’ll separate. She’s a social climber and will prove to be another humiliating mistake for the royal family.

‘us Brits don’t like her much’

You must be an old one. From what I have been reading the young Brits. are excited. But I agree she might not for long keep up with the royal family ancient traditioon.

Harshtruth: I suppose your reasoning could be applied to any marriage ….

Regardless of status – Marriages have a 50-50 chance of survival.

This is just “any marriage”….. considerably different dynamics at play in this scenario.
Stats show that more marriages break up today than succeed so a 50:50 chance isn’t quite accurate.
I hope their marriage works out but like many commentators, I have doubts that it will.

“Another humiliating mistake for the royal family” implies that the royals were never at fault in all their many divorces. Ridiculous. And one has to ask Harshtruth, if (s)he has taken any sort of survey to speak with authority on how many dislike Meghan. Seems to me that H. is speaking from his own prejudiced mind. Meghan is definitely not as much as a social climber as Kate who went to St. Andrew’s University at her mother’s behest just to meet William.

Why would the royal want a big black divorced woman to be part of their family . The mother is a disgrace with her big dreadlocks and nose ring. Honestly why go to wedding to embarrass your daughter when you can’t even be bothered to wear make or do your hair properly. The white trash markles has already jinxed the marriage. Big wedding for someone who should not have worn white . The fame hungry woman should have had a smaller wedding. The American trash will never be princess Diana!

The fat ass father had a convenient heart attack and are they going to have fizzy hair children running around the palace
