Haven’t had much time to peruse all the articles. The ones I saw by my friends, Ram Tiwari and Harry Hergash, and ‘…Rise of Plantation Hinduism’ by Ramesh Gampat were quite informative.
Also, just want to give notice that by July, I will release a self-published book taking issue with Prof. Clem Seecharan (just received an honorary D.Litt from UWI) for demonizing and maligning the Caribbean East Indian forbears – the indentured Indians aka “bound Coolies” – who fled half-starved and with “dark secrets”, the said Caribbean Indians (more specifically, Indo Guyanese), “Mother India” as the roost of these Indians and unable to feed them, and Hindus in particular vis a vis Muslims in India and Afro-Guyanese.
I will be turning the tables around showing that he and his psychoanalyst guru, Kakar, are wrong in their assessments of Hindus; and that Hindus and Indo-Guyanese didn’t cast the first stone.
Here is what he said in 2004 in a “distinguished” lecture in GT.
