A  DUTY  TO  PERFORM – By Leonard Dabydeen

By Leonard Dabydeen

They that have such power to pull a gun

By law to protect and to serve us all,

Must watch targets they follow as they run;

And be ready without fault for a call.

In spite ofuncertainty marking sight,

Identifying the victim needs no

Refrain for poise or immediate plight:

Nothing bares fruit but in the act to go.

Time speaks for itself, duty to perform;

You always get caught in the public’s eye

And the world you face in that uniform;

It is no heroic deed for a sigh.

When the act you complete is an error

It will leave you spiralling forever.
